President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) urged all parties to start preparing for the transition from the era of the pandemic to an endemic scenario, as full extermination of the COVID-19 pandemic had yet to be projected.
"We know that COVID-19 is not going away. For that reason, we need to prepare for the transition from pandemic to endemic," President Jokowi stated while observing the vaccination drive at Yogyakarta's private SLB 1 school for children with disabilities, accessed via videostreaming from Jakarta on Friday.
The president called on all parties to adapt and co-exist with COVID-19, which is deemed as being an important measure. He advised against excess euphoria and called for awareness of the dangers of COVID-19 that should still be maintained.
"This is important. I am conveying this message, so that we do not get carried away with excess euphoria. We should all be aware that COVID-19 continues to lurk in the corners," he affirmed.
Jokowi also reminded the people to maintain discipline in implementing health protocols in order to avert the spread of COVID-19, especially by wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance.
"Health protocols should always be implemented, especially wearing masks," he affirmed.
