State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir believes the integration of the Greater Jakarta (Jakarta-Bogor-Depok-Tangerang-Bekasi or Jabodetabek) transportation facilities will drive economic activities in the surrounding area.
"I expect the integration of Greater Jakarta transportation to revive surrounding business," he said, during the virtual inauguration of the Greater Jakarta transportation integration at Tebet Station, South Jakarta, on Wednesday.
The integration will not only benefit local residents, but it also the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) who are heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, he added.
"If we seriously work it out, Insya Allah (if God wills), the integration project can prove Jakarta can recover and reorganize," he further said.
Through concrete attempts, Indonesia and Jakarta could dispel various negative perceptions, he further added.
“It is our aim to establish a healthy ecosystem, run well as a corporation, and improve public services continuously," Thohir further said, stressing the ministry will continue to support the Governor of Jakarta’s programs and cooperate with the Transportation Minister.
The inauguration also included the announcement of the establishment of the JakLingko card and apps, the construction of a multipurpose crossing bridge, the revitalization of Sudirman Station, the second phase of the restructuring of Tebet Station, and the signing of the Greater Jakarta transportation integration papers.
Thohir attended the event along with Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, SOEs Second Deputy Minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, and Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan.
President Director of state-owned public railways operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia Didiek Hartantyo and President Director of regional-owned rapid transit operator PT Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta William P. Sabandar were also present at the inauguration. (Antaranews)
