The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, appreciated the commitment of the Central Sulawesi government to develop tourism potential in the region to revive the economy and restore employment.

Minister Sandiaga Uno during an audience with the regional government of Central Sulawesi, at the Sapta Pesona Building, Tuesday (25/1/2022) explained that his party encourages local governments to develop regional tourism potential so that they are oriented towards economic recovery.

"I gave directions that we must be oriented towards national economic recovery, and Central Sulawesi in the midst of this pandemic is an anomaly province because it continues to grow because of its abundant and extraordinary natural resources, but there are also other natural resources, namely tourist and economic destinations. One of the interesting sub-sectors of the creative economy is culinary, craft, fashion, and there is also a growing film sub-sector in Central Sulawesi," he said.

During the audience with the Central Sulawesi Regional Government, the minister was accompanied by the Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Vinsensius Jemadu, Deputy for Industry and Investment Fadjar Hutomo, Central Sulawesi Governor Rusdy Mastura, and Poso Regent Verna Inkiriwang.

The minister also explained that he had visited several times and seen firsthand the potential for tourism and the creative economy in Central Sulawesi. He plans to return to Central Sulawesi with policies and programs that are useful, targeted, and timely.

"I myself have often been to Central Sulawesi, and apart from Palu, I haven't had the chance to visit Poso, I will visit the Lake Poso festival in August 2022. This is a program that is right on target, has the right benefits, and is on time and we can stimulate it with other programs such as BBI and one of them is through the film sub-sector,” he said.

In addition, the vision and mission presented by the Central Sulawesi Regional Government are in line with the issues raised by President Joko Widodo to reduce unemployment, poverty, and price stability.

“This is very in sync with the issues raised by the President. I think it's very connected. We will implement it so it can touch the standard of living of the people there and create jobs and open many businesses. Also empowering MSMEs, I was very interested in the tagline of Central Sulawesi, 'Poverty, Unemployment, and Everyone Can Work'," he said.

"I believe that the community wants to move quickly, this is what the people need, so that the welfare of the community can be evenly distributed, coupled with tourism, because tourism can provide opportunities for all people and can create jobs 6 times faster than other industries," said Menparekraf Sandiaga.
