Preparations for the G20 Summit scheduled to be held in November 2022 in Bali, were still on, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said on Thursday.

One of the steps that the minister has taken ahead of the G20 Summit is exchanging notes with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati about the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held early this month and the G20 Finance Ministers’ Meeting held last week.

"From the two meetings, we have tried to start preparations for the G20 Summit more intensively," Marsudi informed at an online media briefing.

G20 member countries' support for Indonesia's G20 presidency was echoed during the two G20 ministerial-level meetings, she said.

"We laud all G20 members' strong support," she added.

The preparations for the G20 Summit include infrastructure and logistics, protocol and security, and health services.

As the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is responsible for contributing to the effort to make Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific region peaceful, stable, and prosperous, Marsudi said.

"Amid the global situation plagued by unhealthy rivalry and increasingly fading multilateralism, Indonesia will be more active in fostering cooperation and spreading the spirit of solidarity and peace," she added.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, preparations for the G20 Summit are expected to be completed by the third or fourth week of October this year.

Uno affirmed that the preparations are going according to plan.

The G20 is a multilateral cooperation forum comprising 19 major countries and the European Union (EU). The G0 members represent more than 60 percent of the world's population, 75 percent of the global trade, and 80 percent of the world's gross domestic product (GDP). (Antaranews)
