The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Paris ensures that Indonesian citizens (WNI) in France are safe. This was confirmed following the demonstrations in the country.
Where, based on international media coverage, demonstrators smashed bank windows in Paris. The demolition was part of a mass strike and protests calling for higher wages amid inflation.
"Thank God, from the monitoring of the Indonesian Embassy there are no reports whether anyone was directly affected by the demonstration. Thank God our Indonesian citizens are safe," said Indonesian Ambassador to France Mohammad Oemar to Pro3 RRI, Friday (21/10/2022).
However, his party reminded Indonesian citizens to be vigilant, anticipate, and not to approach demonstration areas. "In general, public activities run normally, even though there are impacts such as long fuel lines," he added.
Another impact of the demonstration, he said, had an impact on public transportation and school activities. "Students are sent home early," he said.
For communication channels with Indonesian citizens in France, his party provides hotline and social media communication services for the Indonesian Embassy. "Services at the Indonesian Embassy are normal and running as usual," he said.
Furthermore, he reminded Indonesian citizens to be wary of the French workers' demonstration which was held on Saturday, today. "We hope that it will not bring excesses that paralyze daily activities," he said. (RRI)
