Indonesia's commitment to advancing the food sector in recent years should be an example to the international community, especially the G20 member countries. The goal is to build food security.

"The most important thing is that there is a strong government commitment to the desire to promote food, the desire to improve food security. I think that (G20 countries) should be emulated," said Professor of IPB University Edi Santosa in a written statement in Jakarta, Friday. (21/10/2022).

Previously, the World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) hoped that Indonesia, which was asked to become the Chair of the G20 this year, would be able to invite G20 member countries. To work together to tackle food insecurity in the world.

Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo on various occasions invited G20 countries to overcome the food crisis jointly. Syahrul said that food is a humanitarian issue and should not be hampered by any interests.

Minister Syahrul encouraged all G20 countries to open food distribution channels openly. This call is based on the tendency of a number of food-exporting countries to restrict or even close exports to protect domestic interests. (RRI)
