The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to South Korea, Gandi Sulistiyanto, said that there was no information from the police of any Indonesian citizens being victims of Halloween celebrations in Itaewon. At least 149 people died in this incident and the number of victims is likely to continue to grow.
"Until this morning, information from the Police stated that there were no known Indonesian citizens who were victims. The Indonesian Embassy in Seoul is coordinating with various parties to dig up information on the possibility of Indonesian citizens becoming victims," said Gandi in his written statement, Sunday (10/30/2022).
Gandi also said that two foreign nationals were victims of the incident. However, after being investigated, the foreigner is not an Indonesian citizen.
"There is information that 2 foreigners have become victims. However, it has been confirmed that the two people are not Indonesian citizens," he said.
On Saturday, October 29, 2022, at around 22.00, a sad event occurred at the Halloween celebration in Itaewon which resulted in fatalities and injuries. Based on reports in various Korean national media, there are currently 149 fatalities and 76 injuries. (RRI)
