The implementation of the G20 Summit in Bali is only a few days away. Data as of November 8, 2022 afternoon, after media registration was closed since last October 15, there were 2,133 journalists from accredited media at home and abroad who will cover the peak event of the G20 Presidency of Indonesia on November 15-16, 2022.
The number consists of 2,051 in-persons journalists and 82 virtual journalists. They come from a total of 435 registered media, 364 international media and 71 national media.
The enthusiasm of thousands of journalists cannot be separated from history, for the first time, Indonesia held the G20 Presidency which lasted for one year, starting from December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022.
Moreover, the condition of the COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the world for almost three years has made the G20 meetings one of the hopes for a mutual recovery.
This was conveyed by the Director General of Information and Public Communication (Dirjen IKP) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemenkominfo), Usman Kansong, when explaining the management of reporting during the G20 Summit at the online #G20updates press conference, Wednesday (9/11/2022).
The number of journalists and media covering, he continued, would require qualified supporting facilities. Because according to him, one element that takes an active role in supporting the success of the event is the media.
Therefore, a number of facilities were provided to the media crew, both local and foreign. Thus, it is possible for the media crew to obtain information from every important moment in the implementation of this international class event.
Usman revealed, there are four location points that will be attended by leaders of the G20 Summit, namely at Apurva Kempinski, which is located in Raya Nusa Dua Selatan.
Then, at Garuda Wisnu Kencana and Mangrove Conservation Forest Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura) in Pemogan Village. Also at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort which is located at Lot N5 ITDC Complex, Nusa Dua.
“Given the many heads of state or high-ranking state officials who will be attending, it is necessary to carry out very tight security. At each of these reporting points, there will be limitations in terms of access to coverage,” he said.
Usman said that priority access for direct coverage will still be given to media that are officially attached to the leader of the delegation of each country or referred to as official media. Each official media consists of photographers and videographers. Also media hosts and OTP (Official Traveling Press). "This provision applies at all venues for the G20 Summit," he said.
In addition, explained Usman, the official media center of the Ministry of Communication and Information will provide materials in the form of press releases in two languages, namely Indonesian and English. Not only providing facilities for journalists to report on the ongoing summit activities, the media center also complements news content with supporting materials such as infographics, short videos, and bulletins.
“We have prepared a media host, which consists of photographers and videographers. Those who will meet the needs of images and broadcasts for media who do not get access at the peak of the G20 Summit. The results from the media host can be accessed for free through the international broadcast center room at the G20 Summit media center. In addition to press releases, we also provide clean feeds of photos and videos as news material for media friends," he explained.
He added that the collection of identity cards or ID badges for journalists who will cover the G20 Summit can be done from 10 - 15 November 2022 at the Courtyard Hotel. The identity cards can be taken directly by journalists or their representatives by showing a confirmation letter and photo ID.
Not only preparing various needs related to news content for journalists who cover the G20 Summit, the Ministry of Communication and Information also provides working space and hospitality at the official media center.
Access to the official Kemenkominfo media center can be done since November 13 from 08.00 to 22.00 WITA. And especially during the G20 Summit, the media center can be accessed from 08.00 to 24.00 WITA.
“Media that can access the media center are media that have registered their names in the media registration and have received media ID badges. This is the main identification sign to enter the media center,” concluded Usman. (VOI)
