Leaders of the G20 countries who will not attend the High-Level Conference (KTT) in Bali are revealed. They are Vladimir Putin, Jair Bolsonaro, and Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
This information comes from the release of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its official portal. In the news on Friday (11/11/2022) the reasons why they were not present were stated.
“From the side of the G20 countries, Brazil and Mexico have informed their Presidents that they cannot attend. Mexico is represented by the Foreign Minister, while Brazil is still communicating about the President's plan to attend virtually," said a source from kemlu.go.id.
“On November 8, 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also received a diplomatic note from the Russian Embassy in Jakarta. It was said that President Putin could not be present in Bali," the source continued.
Thus, of the 20 leaders of the G20 countries, 17 were physically present. Among them are Joe Biden, Xi Jinping, Emmanuel Macron, Rishi Sunak, and of course Joko Widodo.
The G20 member countries are Indonesia, Russia, the United States, China, Canada, Britain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Japan. And India, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, Germany, France, and the European Union.
“The presence of the G20 leaders plus eight of the 10 invited countries and the leaders of 10 international organizations, is a high level of attendance. This reflects a shared commitment to ensure the G20 remains effective in the midst of a difficult situation," said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (RRI)
