Over 68.33 mln Indonesians get third dose of COVID-19 vaccine

The number of Indonesians receiving the third dose or first booster of the COVID-19 vaccine rose by 37,206 to reach 68,333,576 as of Monday afternoon, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force reported.

As per the task force data, the number of third-dose recipients accounted for 29.11 percent of the target of 234,666,020.

Meanwhile, 174,707,565 people received the second dose, representing 74.44 percent of the target.

The first dose was administered to 203,981,914 people.

The government also administered the fourth dose or second booster to 1,146,694 people, particularly healthcare workers and the elderly.

The government has set itself the target of administering the COVID-19 vaccine to 234,666,020 people as part of efforts to build herd immunity against the disease, which affects the human respiratory system.

The task force also reported that the country added 468 COVID-19 infections on Monday, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country since March 2020 to 6,716,592.

Meanwhile, the number of patients recovering from COVID-19 rose by 3,212, bringing the total number of recoveries to 6,538,568.

The task force underscored the importance of vaccination and compliance with the health protocols to curb the spread of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and its variants.  (Antaranews)
