President Inaugurates Malalayang Beach Area and the Bunaken Ecotourism Village

President Joko Widodo inspected and formalized the arrangement of the Malalayang Beach area and the Bunaken Ecotourism Village, Friday (20/1) in Manado City, North Sulawesi Province.

In his remarks, quoted from an official statement received in Jakarta, the President asked the public to participate in protecting and caring for the tourism area.

"I hope that all people in Manado in particular and North Sulawesi in general will take part in maintaining cleanliness along the Malalayang Beach which we have repaired, we will fix this," said the President.

The President said that the revitalization of the two tourism areas in North Sulawesi Province had spent up to IDR 96 billion in budget.

The government will continue to be committed to improving the tourism area.

"We will continue this later in that direction until the arrangement of Manado City gets better," said the President.

After the inauguration ceremony, the President and his entourage will head to the airport. However, seeing the enthusiasm of the residents, the President and his entourage continued on foot to the end of the area.

Not less than 1.2 km, the President and his entourage walked. Director General of Human Settlement of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Diana Kusumastuti said that when she saw that the large trees were still there and well maintained, the President appreciated the arrangement of the area.

"Mr. President reminded us that the trees that have been around for decades are still being maintained and cared for. Even the President also asked for more trees to become shady in the area," said Diana.

After walking for 1 hour interspersed with greetings and taking selfies with the public, the President and his entourage left the area.

Also accompanying the President in the inauguration were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Governor of North Sulawesi Olly Dondokambey, and Mayor of Manado Andrei Angouw. (VOI/Andy)
