Jakarta - Voinews: Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said, based on the President's direction, the target of foreign and domestic tourists must be achieved by increasing the number of flights, ease of regulation and organizing quality tourism events. In this regard, Sandiaga in his statement, Monday (30/1) in Jakarta, emphasized that the government will simplify the licensing process for organizing tourism events, including through digitization steps. This effort is expected to encourage an increase in the movement of tourists, both domestic and foreign.

"Here direct instructions were given, Mr. President wants event licensing, be it MICE, sports, music and other creative events that we have just launched in the future must be made easier, must be digitized and this will increase the movement of domestic tourists and visits from foreign tourists," said Sandiaga.

Regarding the addition of flights, Sandiaga Uno explained, President Joko Widodo had also given directions to focus on three main markets, namely India, China and Russia. For this reason, according to him, the Indonesian government will cooperate with domestic and foreign airlines so that this target can be achieved. The three countries were chosen because based on data the demand from their people to visit Indonesia, especially Bali, is very high.

Specifically for the Chinese market, there are actually direct flights with a charter system. It is hoped that in the future it can be increased with scheduled direct flights so that the target of up to 7.4 million foreign tourists and 1.4 billion domestic tourist movements this year can be achieved.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, explained that specifically for the Chinese market, there are direct flights with a charter system every week. Currently, a review by the Chinese government is being carried out regarding the aviation agreement.

"The industry hopes that there will be regular (flights), and many have entered (requests). Before the pandemic there were 16 direct flights, and the Chinese Government had said that those who had previously been given permits and slots (flights) had no problems. We hope that ( spring) April-May can start again," Made said. (VOI/Thiodor)
