Indonesia to showcase traditional dance at Australia Day OzFusion 2023

The Indonesian Consulate in Darwin promoted Indonesia by showcasing the OzFusion 2023, organized by Australia Day Northern Territory, National Australia Day Council (NADC), the Northern Territory Government, and Multicultural Council of the Northern Territory (MCNT) in celebrating Australia Day last Thursday (26/1). The event held at Territory Netball Counts, 235 Abala Road, Marrara was joined by 500 multicultural people in Darwin, including the Indonesian citizens and diaspora community.

 

The event is an annual activity, and this year is the second time for the Indonesian Consulate in Darwin to join in Australia Day 2023. The Indonesian Consulate in Darwin showcased the Tor-Tor dance from North Sumatra. The Indonesian community from Bali namely the Darwin Bali Community Inc. joined by performing Belibis Dance. Besides Indonesia’s cultures, other nations’ cultures were also showcased, such as from Colombia, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Thailand, Samoa, Ireland, and Greece.

The Indonesian Consulate in Darwin also received a memento from Dr. Edwin Joseph of MCNT, as a token of appreciation for the Indonesian Consulate's support in the events organized by MCNT in recent years. Besides, the Indonesian Embassy also made a View of Indonesia survey from the participants to assess the image of Indonesia abroad.

 

The culture and culinary event was held to commemorate Australia Day, with a multicultural concept that reflects the value of various ethnicities and cultures in Darwin, including Indonesia. The Indonesian Consulate in Darwin will keep actively participating in various events to support Indonesian culture preservation and as an effort to improve the positive image of Indonesia around the working area of Indonesian Consulate in Darwin.
