Parliament Encourages Ambassador to Attract More Foreign Investors to Indonesia

Jakarta (voinews.id): Commission I of the House of Representatives began the process of fit and proper test in the context of giving consideration to Candidates for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to friendly countries.

"We fit 5 ambassador candidates. So today there are 13. Next 4 and finally 4. Previously, what we fit properly were Turkiye, Brunei Darussalam, Ukraine, Fiji, and finally Laos," said DPR RI Commission I member Utut Adianto, Wednesday (1/2) after attending the session first the fit and proper test of the Candidate for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia, at the DPR RI Jakarta building.

He stressed the importance of the role of Indonesian ambassadors as Indonesia's representatives in each friendly country.

"The main consideration when they are on duty is that they represent the interests of the state," he said.

He said Indonesian ambassadors had a responsibility to promote Indonesia to friendly countries and encourage the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in each deployment country.

"The tasks given by President Jokowi when he was inaugurated include being at the forefront of attracting investment," he said.

One of the candidates for Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary will be stationed in Ukraine.

In particular, Utut Adianto also expressed his hope that the ambassadorial candidate stationed in Ukraine could continue President Joko Widodo's diplomatic steps when he met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The fit and proper test process for Indonesian Ambassador Candidates is carried out for one full time at Commission 1 of the DPR RI.

The fit and proper test were carried out in three sessions where the first session was conducted for 5 ambassador candidates, while the second and third sessions were each conducted for 4 ambassador candidates.

There are 13 ambassador candidates who take part in this process, namely:
1. Acmad Rizal Purnama for Turkey;
2. I Gede Ngurah Swajaya for the Swiss Confederation;
3. Grata Endah Wedaningsih for Laos;
4. Saud Purwanto Krisnawan for South Africa;
5. Santo Darmo Susanto for Cambodia;
6. Acmad Ubaedillah for Brunei Darussalam;
7. Solomon for Argentina;
8. Arief Basalamah for Ukraine;
9. Ricky Suhendar for Peru;
10. Meidyatama Suryadiningrat for Romania;
11. Trias Kuncahyono for the Vatican;
12. Teuku Faizasyah for the Kingdom of Norway;
13. Dupito Simamora for Fiji. (VOI/Andy)
