VOINews, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has informed that the Indonesian government will send its first batch of humanitarian assistance to Palestine this week.

"Indonesia will send humanitarian assistance, which will be adjusted to the demand and needs of the Palestinian people. The first batch will be sent this week," he said after chairing a limited meeting on Palestine at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday.

The assistance has been sourced from the government, business players, and the Indonesian people, he added.

In a statement broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat, Jokowi said that Indonesia is very angry about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

"Indonesia is very angry about the worsening situation in Gaza, especially the humanitarian situation," he stressed.

The Indonesian government is continuing to follow the developments in Gaza closely, he affirmed.

Jokowi expressed Indonesia's firm stance on strongly condemning random attacks on civilians and public facilities in Gaza.

He then asked that violence against civilians be ended immediately.

"A ceasefire must continue to be pursued," he said.

Jokowi also called for the acceleration of the provision of humanitarian assistance to Palestine.

Indonesia is also continuing to communicate with many parties to strive for the resolution of the problem, he added.

Monday's limited meeting on Palestine was attended by several ministers, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD. (Antaranews)
