Green Tourism expected to Contribute 12 percent of Indonesia's GDP Featured

The Green Tourism Program initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is expected to contribute 12 percent of Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product. This was conveyed by the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, after a media briefing in Jakarta, Monday (03/06).
"We have determined that green tourism with the concept of blue and green circular economy with aspects of quality and sustainability that we will focus on. So the contribution of this green tourism and creative economy is around 12 percent of our GDP. If we can transform towards a green economy then we will play a very strategic role," said Minister Uno.
Sandiaga Uno added, with Indonesia's natural wealth, nature-based tourism or ecotourism can be optimized. Meanwhile, for 2024, the Ministry of Finance on the page lists mentioned the performance target of the tourism sector is expected to generate foreign exchange of 7.38 to 13.08 billion US dollars, and contribute to GDP by 4.5 percent and create 22.8 million jobs.
