VOINws, Jakarta: The Jakarta government has entered into a significant agreement with the European Union National Institute for Culture (EUNIC) Cluster Indonesia and the Indonesia Hidden Heritage Creative Hub (IHHCH) to enhance the role and function of museums across the city.

Iwan Henry Wardhana, head of the Jakarta Culture Office, announced on Friday that the development initiatives would focus on research and the advancement of museum and history-related activities. This collaboration aims to elevate the quality and outreach of Jakarta's museums.

Wardhana highlighted that part of these efforts includes increasing the capacity of human resources dedicated to managing museums, improving marketing strategies, and building robust partnerships with various stakeholders. This comprehensive approach is expected to invigorate the museum sector in Jakarta.

"We hope that this collaboration will drive the progress of museum and history activities in Jakarta," Wardhana stated. His remarks underscored the importance of collective efforts in enhancing the cultural landscape of the city.

The Jakarta Culture Office, IHHCH, and EUNIC Cluster Indonesia are united in their support to advance cultural initiatives and develop museums in Jakarta that adhere to international standards. This initiative is seen as a pivotal step in positioning Jakarta as a city of global cultural significance.

"This collaboration is also part of strengthening Jakarta as a global city," Wardhana remarked, emphasizing the broader vision behind these efforts. The goal is not only to improve local museums but also to place Jakarta on the global cultural map.

Alongside the agreement, the Jakarta government has also established a partnership with the Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM). This partnership includes various specialized committees under ICOM, such as the International Committee for Museum Management (INTERCOM) and the International Committee of Marketing and Public Relations (MPR).

Additionally, the International Committee for the Training of Personnel (ICTOP) and the International Committee for Money and Banking Museums (ICOMON) will be presenting the "International Best Practice on Museums and Heritage Sites Museum Forward" forum from September 23-26. This event aims to share global best practices in museum and heritage site management.

The international forum will bring together over 25 museum and cultural heritage practitioners from both Indonesia and abroad, including representatives from prestigious institutions like the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum, the Prado Museum in Spain, and the M+ Museum in Hong Kong. This gathering is expected to foster knowledge exchange and strengthen international collaborations in the museum sector./Antara/VOI.
