VOINews, NTB: The Youth and Sports Agency of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has officially opened registration for individuals interested in becoming foster parents for participants of the international youth exchange program. This initiative is designed to strengthen cultural diplomacy between nations and offer the youth a unique opportunity to experience life in NTB.

“We invite the public to actively participate as foster parents in this program, contributing to cultural diplomacy between nations,” said Acting Head of the NTB Youth and Sports Agency, Anang Zulkarnain, in Mataram on Saturday. His call highlighted the importance of the role foster parents will play in supporting the exchange participants.

The program, which fosters cross-cultural understanding, provides youth from various countries the chance to learn and exchange cultural insights. According to Anang, this is a golden opportunity for the people of West Nusa Tenggara to contribute to youth development on an international scale. He emphasized that fostering international youth would strengthen the bonds between nations through cultural exchange.

“This is an opportunity for NTB residents to contribute by supporting the personal growth and potential of international youth who will reside in NTB during the exchange period,” Anang added. Through their role as foster parents, participants will have the chance to help shape the experiences of the youth involved in the program.

Foster parents will assist the exchange students in adapting to local culture and offer necessary support and guidance throughout their stay. Anang also mentioned the significant role foster parents play in ensuring a smooth transition for the students, helping them become accustomed to the rich culture and traditions of West Nusa Tenggara.

In addition to helping students adjust, foster parents will also help introduce NTB’s cultural wealth to youth from various countries. "Foster parents are essential in promoting the rich cultural heritage and traditions of West Nusa Tenggara to young people from around the world," Anang explained, emphasizing their role in showcasing the local culture.

The NTB Youth and Sports Agency has set specific requirements for foster parents, including a strong commitment to supporting the participants, providing suitable housing, and being actively involved in program activities. Registration is open to all residents of West Nusa Tenggara who meet these criteria.

Anang added that beyond providing an exciting experience, becoming a foster parent is an act of fostering international ties through cultural exchange. The NTB Youth and Sports Agency is accepting applications for 21 foster parents, with a deadline set for October 10, 2024, or until the quota is filled.

“We hope to attract broader public participation to ensure the success of the program while also showcasing the warmth and hospitality of the people of West Nusa Tenggara to the world,” Anang concluded. The program stands as a testament to NTB’s commitment to cultural diplomacy and global engagement./ANTARA/VOI
