The Indonesian Embassy in Caracas organized a dance workshop to promote Indonesian culture in Valencia, Venezuela, from November 14 to 15, 2024.

According to ANTARA, Indonesian Ambassador to Venezuela, Imam Edy Mulyono, emphasized that introducing Indonesian culture is not only about preserving Indonesia’s heritage but also about sharing knowledge with the international community.

The first day of the workshop began with a video presentation introducing Indonesia’s profile, culture, and interesting facts in Spanish. This was followed by a basic lesson in the Tor-Tor Dance from Tapanuli, taught by Elviyana Noor, an Indonesian traditional dance instructor with 17 years of teaching experience in Venezuela. On the second day, Elviyana guided participants through more advanced Tor-Tor movements, and for the finale, the participants performed the dance in full traditional Ulos attire from North Sumatra.

Encouraged by the enthusiasm of the 25 participants, the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas plans to continue facilitating cultural exchanges, scholarships, and training programs for Venezuelan students and artists interested in learning about Indonesia.

During the event, Ambassador Imam Edy Mulyono presented an award to Yacana Martinez, Director of Valencia Danza Contemporanea, as an appreciation of the Valencia arts community's support for the Embassy in promoting Indonesian culture.
