As a step to strengthen dialogue, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, received US Defense Minister James Mattis at the Pancasila Building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (22/1).

In the meeting, the Foreign Minister again conveyed the importance of the United States to support the achievement of peace between Palestine and Israel. The Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that there is no other solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict unless achieving a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. "The position of Indonesia has been very clear and firm in supporting the Palestinian struggle until the realization of Palestinian independence," said Foreign Minister Retno.

In this regard, Foreign Minister Retno also expressed Indonesia's hope that the US should reconsider its decision to cut its contribution to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). FM said that the role of UNRWA is very important in supporting Palestinian refugees in the field of education and health. "This aid cut will harm and negatively impact the peace process that has been built in Palestine," said Foreign Minister Retno.////kemlu.go.id
