In addition to attending the 40th UN Human Rights Council Meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi is also scheduled to attend the 46th Conference of Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. The meeting will be held on March 1 to 2, 2018 themed 50 Years of Islamic Cooperation, Roadmap for Prosperity and Development.
To reporters, Indonesian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir said that Indonesia in the OIC ministerial meeting would encourage discussion regarding efforts to increase the cooperation of OIC member countries in the fields of economy and science and to handle safe and orderly migration flows.
“For Indonesia, there are several issues that will be of concern related to encouraging increased cooperation between OIC countries in the fields of economics and science and technology. In addition, Indonesia will encourage cooperation support from the OIC for cooperation on the Global Compact for Save, Orderly and Migration,” Armanatha said.
Furthermore, Arrmanatha Nasir said that the 46th OIC ministerial meeting would produce a declaration that gave political commitment to the OIC member countries for various issues related to the theme of the meeting. In addition to the declaration, according to Arrmanatha, the 46th OIC Ministerial meeting will also produce 130 resolutions covering various issues such as financial, political and Palestinian issues.
He added, several issues that would be of concern in the 46th OIC Ministerial Meeting included the progress of the peace process in the world, efforts to fight global terrorism, and the OIC 2025 Action Program. (VOI/ANDY/AHM)
