Indonesia moves on positive trend at Fed Cup.
Indonesian women tennis team continued positive result in the knock-out round of group D at Fed Cup of Group II, Asia/Oceania zone, held in Isa city, Bahrain from 6-10 February 2018 after in the second phase of knock-out round, on last Wednesday by defeating Pakistani team with score 3-0.
According to the official website of Fed Cup observed by Antara ews Agency in Jakarta on last Wednesday, the Indonesian team succeeded to grab points from women single players namely, Aldila Sutijadi, Beatrice Gumulya, and Ushna Suhail. Meanwhile, the last point was grabbed by double women pairs, Deria Nur Haliza / Jessy Rompies.
By this winning, Indonesian team will be easier to win in Group D for securing one ticket to the final. For the time being, Indonesian women team sits at the first rank of group D from two wins and it is followed by Sri Lanka with one win and one defeat. At the third rank, it’s placed by Pakistan with one win and one defeat.

Men double pairs, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo / Marcus Fernaldi Gideon succeeded to score hat-trick at India Open 2018. In 2016 and 2017, Kevin/Marcus also succeeded to be the champion of India Open. They defeated world’s first pairs, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen (Denmark) with the score 21-14, 21-16.
The title was the second one for Kevin/Marcus in 2018. Last week, they just became the champion at Daihatsu Indonesia Master 2018. By this winning, they succeeded to grab titles from 5 consecutive tournaments namely China Open Super Series Premier 2017, Hong Kong Open Super Series 2017, BWF World Super Series Finals 2017.
Indonesia grabbed two titles from India Open 2018. At women’s double, Greysia Polli / Apriyani Rahayu succeeded to defeat second-seed, Jongkolphan Kittiharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai from Thailand with the score 21-18, 21-15. Meanwhile, at mix double, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti were defeated by fifth-seed, Mathias Christiansen/Christinna Pedersen from Denmark with the score 21-14, 21-15

The committee of All-Indonesian Badminton Association viewed that the results gained at India Open 2018 could be capital for Indonesian team to face Asian 2018 Group Championship and the qualification for Thomas-Uber Cup.
At India Open 2018 that has been closed on last Sunday, Indonesia grabbed two titles from men’s and women’s doubles, and one runner-up at mix doubles. It was stated by Head of Development and Achievement of the Association, Susy Susanti in Jakarta on last Monday.
The players who grabbed title at this level 4 tournament are Greysia Poli/Apriyani Rahayu at women’s double, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo at men’s double. The runner-up title was grabbed by Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti at mix doubles after being defeated by Mathias Christiansen/Christinna Pedersen of Denmark with the score 14-21, 15-21.
The Association hoped that the two titles and one runner-up could give spirit to men singles and women singles. Asian 2018 Group Championship will take place at Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium, Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia on 6-11 February 2018.
Wrestling sets target at Asian Games.
Indonesian wrestling targets one gold medal at Asian Games 2018 Jakarta-Palembang. The Chairman of All-Indonesian Wrestling Association, Trimedya Panjaitan said in Medan, North Sumatra on last Tuesday that wrestling is targeted to grab one gold medal by the government.
Trimedya explained that the target is difficult enough. He views that the most-realistic target for wrestling at Asian Games is just only one bronze. He also gives one-week deadline for Gusti Randa, the manager of Indonesian wrestling team to form a team and working program toward Asian Games, including in mapping one gold medal target.
Meanwhile, Gusti Randa said that strong competitors of wrestling are from Middle East countries, namely Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and others. He added that Indonesian wrestling team has prepared six athletes consisting of 4 men and 2 women to compete at Asian Games. He further said that his side has scheduled try out program to East Europe such as Bulgaria and Kirgizstan for 25 days.
