President Affirms the Need for Deregulation and De-bureaucratization to Support Universities President Affirms the Need for Deregulation and De-bureaucratization to Support Universities Kris-Biro Pers Setpres

President Joko Widodo reminded that in working we should focus and have priority what to do. It was stated by the Head of State in his remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the 14th Campus Convention and the 20th Annual Meeting of Indonesian Rector Forum 2018 at Baruga Building Andi Pangeran Pettarani, Hasanuddin University, Makassar, South Sulawesi, Thursday, February 15, 2018.

To that end, the President always reminded not to get stuck in a monotonous routine. "I have to be brave to make changes and innovations, I reprimand to the Minister of Research and Technology that the faculties that have not been changed for decades must be changed because the world has changed very quickly," said the President.

The government must also move quickly because the winning competition is only those with speed. Now it is no longer a great country that wins against a small country. "Now the fastest is the winner, the most responsive wins even though it is a small country," he said.

Therefore, the President has repeatedly asked for deregulation to cut the bureaucracy which only traps and ensnares ourselves. For three years the President has been trying to cut regulation, and complicated procedures.

To that end, the President ordered the Minister of Research and Technology to conduct deregulation and de-bureaucratization at the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. Also present accompanying President and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education M Nasir, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Chairman of FRI Suyatno and Rector of Hasanuddin University Dwia Ariestina Pulubuhu.
