Japan has determined to provide fiscal assistance loans of 50 billion yen, equivalent to Rp6.95 trillion to Indonesia to increase disaster management capacity in Indonesia.

This was conveyed by Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga in a joint press statement with President Joko Widodo after holding a bilateral meeting between the two countries at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Tuesday.

"Taking into account the impact of the spread of COVID-19 on the Indonesian economy, on this occasion Japan has designated a loan as fiscal assistance of 50 billion yen, to increase Indonesia's disaster management capacity," said PM Yoshihide Suga in Bogor, Tuesday.

He said Japan would also encourage cooperation in developing health studies in Indonesia by providing medical goods and equipment.

On that occasion, the two state leaders also restarted the journey between the two countries for business people, including nurses and caregivers under the Japan-Indonesia EPA framework.

Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga also agreed to coordinate closely to resume as soon as possible a short-term business trip by easing self-isolation measures for 14 days after entering the destination country.

"Regarding the main priority in national development emphasized by President Joko Widodo, Japan will steadily promote cooperation in infrastructure such as the construction of the MRT, the Jakarta-Surabaya semi-fast train, the development and management of the Patimban Port, the construction of the outer islands and cooperation for increase economic resilience," said PM Yoshihide Suga.
