Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Ronny F Sompie wants a Monitoring Team for Foreigners (Timpora) in each district/city to optimize the supervision of the existence of foreign citizens.
"Monitoring efforts must continue to be improved such as being able to follow the Regional Intelligence Community," said Ronny in Banjarmasin, recently.
However he reminded that the immigration officers only has the authority to process misuse of residence permits, not criminal acts. While the case related to working permit has become the authority of the relevant agency. In his direction at the Class I Immigration Office of Banjarmasin, Ronny expressed his appreciation for the office`s performance in serving the public. He inspected the immigration services including facilities for disabled persons, lactation room and children`s playground.
"Immigration officers should be more vigilant in issuing passports so that they are not misused for non-procedural migrant workers," he said.
The former Bali Police Chief has called on the South Kalimantan immigration office to work closely with the police considering both institutions` interrelated duties and functions, including supervision of foreigners, intellectual property rights and correctional issues.
"It is necessary to increase coordination between agencies so that the best solution is to provide services to the community," he said. (ant)
Indonesian shooting athlete, Muhammad Sejahtera “Tera” Dwi Putra, presented the first shooting medal for the country after winning the silver medal in the men’s 10-meter running target mixed competition at Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang, Saturday (25/8).
Tera’s victory finally ended Indonesia’s shooting medal drought in the last six days of the Asian Games shooting competition.
In the final round, Tera collected 380 points, four points fewer than gold medalist Pak Myong-won from DPR Korea. The bronze medal went to China’s Yu Gan with 379 points.
Tera’s silver-winning performance was quite a feat considering that Tera was competing against Pak Myong-won, a world-class shooter and 2010 Asiad gold medalist.
Tera collected 190 points each in the first and second stages, bringing the total score to 380. Pak Myong-won, meanwhile, triumped with 192 collected in each of the two rounds.
Tera said he was grateful to finally win silver in the mixed category after he failed to reach the final round of the men’s 10-meter running target competition.
"Alhamdullilah (Thank God), I performed better today," said the 21-year-old shooter.
Indonesia shooting coach, Masruri, said he was satisfied with Tera’s result.
"[Tera’s] score in this match was only 2 or 3 points below the score he gained in the national training camp, which is still okay,” the coach said.(antara)

Indonesian Minister of National Development Planning (PPN) / Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Bambang Brodjonegoro said that a country's economic growth should not only be supported by consumption alone. Consumption is considered only to have an economic multiplier effect, but it cannot encourage the economic growth. This was conveyed by Bambang in his presentation at the 2018 Gross Fixed Capital Formation Disaggregation (PMTB) activity held by Indonesian Statistics Agency (BPS) in Jakarta, Thursday (23/8).
"We as a planning institution certainly want to direct Indonesia so that Indonesia has high quality economic growth. And the most important thing is that Indonesia can jump, get out of the middle income trap. And that needs high growth. This high growth can not only rely on the consumption. Because if we rely on the consumption, we must be honest, the data submitted by Pak Kecuk when we are in the second quarter seems to be somewhat relieved because of 5.27 percent economic growth. But we must be honest that there are efforts to increase consumption both naturally because of the holidays and fasting and second because there are annual bonuses. The only problem is we don't want the economic growth to be high when the government disbursed the annual bonuses," Bambang said.
Bambang continued, one of the sources of the economic growth that Indonesia could rely on besides consumption was investment. The incoming investment will later create jobs, so that it will encourage public consumption. Not only that, investment also encourages productivity, so that there is a possibility that net exports will also be boosted. If both things improve, it is guaranteed that the economic growth is getting better. However, Bambang said investment growth needs to be supported by an adequate strategy. One of these strategies can be achieved through the preparation of comprehensive or comprehensive Fixed Capital Formation Disaggregation (PMTB) data. (VOI / Rezha/AHM)
