Indonesia's export value in December 2017 reached 14.79 billion US Dollars. Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics, Kecuk Suhariyanto explained, the number decreased 3.45 percent compared to November 2017 exports. In a Press Briefing held on Monday (15/1) in Jakarta Suhariyanto explained that some non-oil and gas commodities in November to December were decrease, namely chocolate, kernel oil and palm oil. Meanwhile, coal, rubber and copper increased. According to Kecuk Suhariyanto, the development of non-oil and gas commodities affected export and import value during December 2017. However, compared to December 2016, export value of December 2017 increased 6.93 percent.

"If compared to year on year, December 2016 to December 2017 our exports remain quite good of 6.93 percent. Later it can be seen export trend from year to year showed that in 2017 in total was quite encouraging," Kecuk said.

Kecuk Suhariyanto further explained that the composition of exports in November and December 2017 remained the same, 90 percent came from non oil and gas, and 10 percent from oil and gas exports. Indonesian oil and gas exports rose 17.96 percent and its volume rose 12.67 percent. This indicates the influence of oil price increase. According to Suharyanto, the export movement in 2017 from January to December is generally much better than in 2016. He hoped that in 2018, the export movement will get better, especially since the economy of Indonesia's trading partners such as China, Japan and America are getting better// Sekar/trs.Rezha

North Kalimantan Governor Irianto Lambrie visited on Friday PT Dirgantara Indonesia’s (DI) aircraft manufacturing factory in Bandung, West Java, as he mulls over plans to purchase twin-turboprop N219 Nurtanio aircraft to boost air connectivity in the province. Lambrie said that seventy percent of the province is forest area, which takes a long time to reach by land. The North Kalimantan administration has plans to use the N219 planes for semi-commercial flights, Lambrie said, adding that they would be operated by a provincial-owned enterprise in cooperation with a private airline. He said that the plan is to expand its public services, including health services; the planes could also serve as an ambulance. It could also be used as cargo and passenger planes for remote areas. The 19-seat N219 made its maiden flight test on Aug. 17 last year, marking the revival of Indonesia's aviation industry following the N250’s commercial failure two decades ago. However, before entering the production stage, the N219 must undergo a series of additional tests to get a Type Certificate (TC). DI president director Elfien Goentoro welcomed the governor’s plan, saying that DI is targeting to get its planes certified this year//JP
