UK – Indonesia Tech Hub and Endeavor network in the Asia Pacific region teamed up to conduct a webinar focusing on the challenges facing women on Friday, December 3, 2021.

Dubbed EndeavHER: “Having-It-All” - The Art of Maintaining Health for Women Leaders, the webinar will discuss and share experiences of how female executives can rise to the challenge of managing their physical and mental health, and how their approach influences the way they lead their businesses.

A report by Endeavor Insight with support from Google for Startups draws lessons from successful women founders to better understand pathways they took to scale their businesses, and strategies for overcoming some of the most common challenges that women entrepreneurs face.

The report found several tangible steps that can be taken to better support women founders, including curated programs and events to increase female founders access to high-quality female mentors, as well as connecting female founders so they have strong peer support networks.

The UK is aiming to provide just this through the recently launched Nurture to Scale programme, which will support the growth of start-up entrepreneurs in Indonesia by providing them with wide access to resources, insights, successful founders, key industry leaders and mentors - all in order to scale-up their businesses.

EndeavHER, as an Endeavor signature programme to support and elevate female founders accelerate the growth of their companies, is one of the most exciting events within the Nurture to Scale programme, with a goal to inspire the next wave of female entrepreneurs in the region and globally.

Notable speakers are women founders and entrepreneurs from five countries, who lead companies in variety of industries namely Levana Sani, from Indonesia, Co-founder of Nalagenetics, who help people to make better health decisions by giving them access to personalized prescriptions; Amina Sugimoto, from Japan, Co-founder & CEO of Fermata, who help transform taboos into triumphs with technologies that can clarify and inform women about their own bodies; Amy Zheng, from Malaysia, Co-founder & CEO of Amazin’Graze, one of Southeast Asia's early homegrown health food brands with a mission to change the way people eat; Denise Keller, from Singapore, an international travel host, director and producer best known for her work as host for Discovery Channel, TLC and MTV; Denise Sandquist, from Vietnam, Co-founder & CEO Fika, a female-focused dating app that uses state-of-the-art AI.

 

“Through this event, women will inspire women to achieve their full potential. Dispersed over a wide geographic area, it is even more essential that Indonesia’s female entrepreneurs are connected and can access role models and support networks," Owen Jenkins, British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste said in a release on Thursday.

"This event is part of our efforts to deliver exactly that. The UK is delighted to support Indonesia’s women and their entrepreneurial talents participating in Indonesia’s tech sector through our  UK – Indonesia Tech Hub," he said.

The online event will also include Nurture to Scale’s Virtual World, a virtual exhibition that enables people to engage and connect with 35 of the most promising start-ups in Indonesia, as well as watch webinars in a virtual auditorium

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, supports the development of the creative economy sector in West Detusoko Village, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

His party provides support in the form of tools to make decorative lights to musical equipment to local creative and creative actors. This is done as an effort to increase the enthusiasm and creativity of the community and open up job creation in the West Detusoko Village.

The assistance was given by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy on the sidelines of his visit to the West Detusoko Tourism Village, Wednesday (1/12/2021). West Detusoko Village itself is a pilot village that is included in the top 50 best tourist villages in the 2021 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) event.

“I saw earlier that one of the creative economy actors needed help. Alhamdulillah, we immediately moved quickly. Because I'm used to solving problems by presenting solutions that are really needed. So today we present these tools and also the assistance of musical instruments for the studio so that the West Detusoko Tourism Village is more advanced. The hope is that the economy will rise and jobs will be created here,” he said.

Detusoko Tourism Village is also known as the Sao Ria Nuarini Traditional Village. Detusoko Barat is included in one of the villages supporting Lake Kelimutu and is the main door to Kelimutu National Park. No doubt, if Detusoko Barat Village has extraordinary natural and cultural potential. It takes 45 minutes to reach this village from downtown Ende.

Located at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, West Detusoko presents a beautiful topography. There are terraced rice fields which are not uniform in size and have been around for a long time. According to the stories of the villagers, the existing rice fields are inherited from generation to generation and are owned by almost all the families who inhabit Detusoko Barat Village. In the middle of the rice fields there is the colorful Lowaria River Bridge.

In addition to the rice fields, there is also the Ae Oka Detusoko hot spring pool. This pool is a hot spring located 1 km from the Detusoko terminal. This hot water contains sulfur and is believed to cure various skin diseases.

West Detusoko Village also has a variety of distinctive arts and culture. Among them are Mega Dance, a welcoming dance. Then, Sanggualu Dance which is a dance passed down from generation to generation by the ancestors. This dance is performed by young people by combining traditional games from bamboo sticks.

As mentioned by the Minister, Detusoko Barat Village has a studio called Sanggar Dau Dole Pokdariwis Nira Neni, as a place to preserve traditional dances, music and local Lio Ende songs.

What's interesting about Detusoko Barat Village is the traditional ritual performed by the Lio Ende Tribe once a year. This ritual is called Nggua Uwi, to show gratitude for life, harvest, and salvation.

One of the crops that become the main commodity is candlenut. Candlenut thrives in West Detusoko Village. Apart from being used for candlenut oil, the pecan fruit is also used by village children as the main tool for their game (substitute for marbles).

There are also local culinary products that have been packaged and can be used as souvenirs for West Detusoko. Among them, Detusoko Coffee, processed chili sauce, Red Rice, Black Rice, Peanut Butter, Various Herbal Drinks, and Dried Mango. Meanwhile, for craft products, there are bracelets, rings, earrings, perfume made from coffee, and decorative lights.

On that occasion, Deputy Minister of Villages for Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, Budi Arie Setiadi, said that the Tourism Village Award was part of a joint effort to support the development of creative villages in Indonesia.

“I hope that Detusoko village can be built and encouraged by young people. And what is certain is that in developing a village, cooperation is needed by all parties. Hopefully West Detusoko Village can be an inspiration, can develop from year to year, and can become an icon for the progress of villages in Indonesia," he said. (VOI)

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency held the Mandalika International Conference “Infinity Experience of Nature and Sport Tourism”, which was held in a hybrid manner at the Raja Hotel Kuta Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara.

This international conference is a collaboration between Tourism Ministry and Kompas to explore strengthening tourism products in Mandalika so that they are of international standard with their potential to offer unlimited experiences related to nature and sports.

“We are grateful that Mandalika, which is included in the Rinjani biosphere reserve, has received world recognition through UNESCO. The success of various international sporting events held at the Mandalika destination has also shown its competitiveness in the eyes of the world. Through the implementation of this international event, it is hoped that it will be able to revive the economy in Mandalika and have a welfare impact on the local community," said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, when opening the Infinity Experience of Nature and Sport Tourism international conference. online, Wednesday (1/12/2021).

The Mandalika international conference presented various speakers which were divided into two sessions. In the first session, Session I was presented with the theme: "Exploring the Readiness of the Mandalika Sports Tourism Area", with the speaker being the Deputy for Coordination of Tourism and Creative Economy Kemenkomarves Odo RM Manuhutu; Country Manager VITO France & Founder House of Indonesia in Paris, Ekawati Moncarre; Mataram University Academic, Dr. M. Firmansyah; Sasak Lombok culturalist, Lalu Putria and Kompas Daily Senior Journalist, Adi Prinantyo.

Session II was presented with the theme: "The Key to the Development of Sports Tourism and Creative Economy in the Mandalika Region", with Founder of Javara as speakers, Helianti Hilman; President Director of Dyandra Promosindo, Hendra Noor Saleh; Event Director Rinjani Geopark Sport Tourism Festival, Mohammad Farid Zaini and Race Director L'Etape Indonesia by Tour de France, Zacky Badrudin.

"I really hope that this activity can create innovations and new breakthroughs in the development of the Mandalika super-priority destination as a quality and sustainable tourism destination. For that, we have to move quickly, move together, and work on all potentials so job opportunities are opened as wide as possible," said the Menparekraf.

On that occasion, the Deputy for Tourism Products and Activities (Events) Rizki Handayani, explained that this international conference was held to discuss and find various solutions on how in the future we can maintain and strengthen tourism products in Mandalika, as well as optimize sporting events. for the development of tourism and the creative economy that can have an impact on local communities.

“As we all know, a few weeks ago, several international sporting events were successfully held in Mandalika. Hopefully, this will be able to spur Mandalika so that its tourism products and services and the creative economy will be better in order to provide an authentic, unique and memorable experience for tourists so that they will continue to return to visit Mandalika in the future,” he said.

At this conference, there was also an exhibition of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of creative products typical of NTB, including Uniwis Weaving, Concha Pearls by Lamops, Telu Craft, Berkah Alam Coffee, Hasanah Honey, Lombok NTB Pearls, Mawar Ketag Lombok & Crafts Shop, Sate Rembiga, and Taliwang Chicken Goyang Lidah, Organic Lombok Cosmetics, Tenun Namia Gallery & Ferry Koencoro Gallery.

The Mandalika International Conference was also held with a strict application of CHSE MICE in order to provide security and comfort during MICE activities during the pandemic. Destination development and human resources, as well as community empowerment, will be the focus of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency in an effort to accelerate the development of 5 Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) next year.

Apart from, of course, also in the scope of industrial development and investment, promotion development, product development, and events, as well as the development of creative economy products which are expected to drive the economy by opening up wider employment opportunities.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy / Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno online at the "National Coordination Meeting for the Acceleration of Development of Five Super Priority Tourism Destinations in 2021" which was held by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Wednesday (1/12/2021).

"We will carry out these future developments through optimal collaboration and collaboration with pentahelix elements. We will invite educational institutions, business actors, communities, local governments, and the media. We thank the local governments for focusing on presenting policies that side with tourism and the creative economy," Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno said.

For destination development, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will focus on developing and strengthening attractions, accessibility, amenities, and ancillary. It is realized through various programs such as the development of tourist destinations, sustainable tourism certification, revitalization of facilities in tourist destinations, and others.

Likewise for the development and capacity building of human resources and community empowerment. This will be carried out with programs such as tourism competency certification, creative human resources assistance, independent entrepreneurs, as well as tourist village human resource assistance.

"Also developing the creative economy with several programs such as Buy Local Creative. Yesterday (program) we did this with Buy Creative Lake Toba, and it was proven to be able to triple the sales of creative economy products for MSME actors in Lake Toba," said Sandiaga.

"We are developing the readiness of creative economy products, of course, in terms of promotion, production and also in terms of quality. Likewise, regional events will continue to be strengthened," said Sandiaga.

The Ministry's budget which is prepared to accelerate the development of five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) next year is IDR 351.6 billion. This number increased by 74.3 percent from the 2021 budget year which was Rp. 201.7 billion.

"The allocation of budget support for 2022 has been mapped out for 5 super-priority destinations and we will of course optimize this," said Sandiaga.

On that occasion, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno also hoped for support from relevant ministries/agencies for the tourism sector and the creative economy so as to increase the index of Indonesia's tourism competitiveness. This is particularly the case for pillars with a low level of competitiveness. Such as Environment Sustainability, Health and Hygiene, Tourist Service Infrastructure, Safety and Security, ICT Readiness, and Ground and Port Infrastructure.

Although, said Sandiaga, currently there has been a lot of support from the relevant ministries/institutions.

"I have seen how active the development that is currently being carried out. Let's create 5 super-priority tourism destinations of really high quality with totality," said Sandiaga.

The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said on the occasion that the National Coordination Meeting was held to discuss a number of main issues that were the government's focus to be resolved.

He said, based on the results of the 2020 National Coordination Meeting for the Development of Five DPSPs, 101 issues had been agreed to be resolved.

"In its development, as many as 14 percent of issues have been resolved, 55 percent of issues are in progress, 18 percent of issues are still under discussion, and 13 percent of issues are pending completion," said Luhut.

In general, Luhut said, there are three main factors that cause the resolution of these issues cannot be carried out in 2021. Among them are due to land that has not been clean and clear, budget refocusing for handling COVID-19, and work carried out on a multi-year basis.

"The focus of development in 2022 is on resolving issues that are still under discussion, on hold, and continuing the development stage, namely management. Therefore, the 2022 program should focus on increasing human resources, encouraging investment, and developing or managing blue, green, and green principles. and a circular economy," said Luhut. (VOI)
