Infrastructure development is a very basic need to compete with other countries. Moreover, infrastructure in the country such as roads, ports, airports and power plants, is still far behind compared to other countries. This statement was conveyed by President Joko Widodo when inaugurating 8.9 kilometer long Bakauheni-Terbanggibesar Toll Road segment of Bakauheni Port - Simpang Susun Bakauheni and 5.5 kilometer long segment of Simpang Susun Lematang - Simpang Susun Kotabaru in Bakauheni, South Lampung Regency on Sunday January 21, 2019.
"I want to encourage that Bakauheni to Palembang toll road can be completed before the Asian Games run," said the President.
Toll road is an example of infrastructure that can improve the competitiveness of a product because it speeds up the delivery process.
Regarding the construction of 140.9 kilometer long Bakauheni-Terbanggi toll road which is the first toll road in Lampung Province, the President is optimistic that the toll road will be completed in June 2018, although there are still problems such as land acquisition.

The President also reminded that the construction of this toll road has not been completed and there are still many parts that need to be connected, and must be continuously built.

"We finish it one by one, but most are still in the process of construction. Therefore, I inaugurated this segment once it is completed to spur other sections to be immediately completed," said the President to reporters.
