President Joko Widodo attended the Indonesian National Military and Indonesian Police Leadership Meeting at the hall of the Gatot Subroto building, Indonesian Military (TNI) headquarters Cilangkap, East Jakarta.
This leadership meeting was held to evaluate the performance of the Indonesian National Military (TNI) and Indonesian Police (Polri) Leadership Meeting in 2017 while preparing steps that will be taken to synergize the two institutions.
The Indonesian National Military and Indonesian Police Leadership Meeting themed Based on Synergy, Solidity and Professionalism, the Indonesian Military (TNI) and Indonesian Police (Polri)are Ready to Secure Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) 2018 and 2019 General Election Stage to Ensure the Continuity of the National Development is attended by 359 High Officers consisting of 180 TNI high ranking officials and 179 police officers. The series of activities of the meeting are jointly organized at the TNI Headquarters.
On the occasion President Joko Widodo was accompanied by TNI Commander Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian, Coordinating Minister for Politics, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Military General Moeldoko, and Attorney General HM Prasetyo.//// (Ndy/ahm)
VOI News: Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu receives US Defense Secretary James Mattis' visit in an honorary ceremony at Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Jakarta, Tuesday (23/01). The visit is aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries based on the principle of mutual respect and benefit. In the meeting,the two ministers discussed the vision of Indonesia as the world's maritime axis, bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the region in Trilateral coordinated patrol, Military Information security approval and the procurement of the main weaponry system (Alutsista) and maritime policy. The Association of Indonesian Travel Agencies (ASITA) of Papua stated, that Baliem Valley Festival in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua still becomes the main attraction for foreign tourists to visit Papua. As quoted by Antara, Chairman of ASITA Papua, Iwanta Parangin-Angin, in Jayapura, on Sunday (21/1) said, the average number of foreign tourist arrivals in 2017 reached 100 people per month. But the number can increase dramatically during the implementation of the Baliem Valley Festival on August 8 to 10. According to him, currently travel agents have started to sell travel packages to watch the Festival, held by Jayawijaya Government as an annual routine agenda. As a step to strengthen dialogue, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, received US Defense Minister James Mattis at the Pancasila Building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (22/1).
In the meeting, the Foreign Minister again conveyed the importance of the United States to support the achievement of peace between Palestine and Israel. The Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that there is no other solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict unless achieving a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. "The position of Indonesia has been very clear and firm in supporting the Palestinian struggle until the realization of Palestinian independence," said Foreign Minister Retno.
In this regard, Foreign Minister Retno also expressed Indonesia's hope that the US should reconsider its decision to cut its contribution to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). FM said that the role of UNRWA is very important in supporting Palestinian refugees in the field of education and health.
