The Indonesian army, navy, and air force chiefs of staff affirmed their readiness to support the government's efforts to carry out new normal adaptations in the public.

Indonesian Army Chief of Staff General Andika Perkasa, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo said at the Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java on Sunday that the soldiers will enforce discipline in public life more actively in accordance with health protocols to ensure community members remain productive and safe from COVID-19.

"The Indonesian Navy will surely assist the acceleration of COVID-19 handling. It is now the stage for disciplining the community, and we will surely be more active as well, especially the personnel in the field to help local governments to discipline the community," said Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono.

A similar statement was also made by Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo who affirmed the readiness of the forces he led to assist with several matters related to COVID-19 handling.

Aside from discipline enforcement among the public, the Indonesian Air Force is also supporting medical supplies delivery to all areas across the country.

"For the Indonesian Air Force, we remain ready to assist, for example, we carry out the delivery of medical equipments to all parts of the country where there are air bases and airports. We also continue to carry out air operations, as we must maintain the sovereignty of the country's territory," Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo stated.

Meanwhille, Army Chief of Staff General Andika Perkasa explained that President Joko Widodo had specifically requested the army to emulate the achievements of Former Army Chief of Staff General Pramono Edhie who had just passed away. The president also prayed for the deceased and expressed his gratitude for all his services.

"Mr.President specifically expressed his condolences for the death of the Former Army Chief of Staff, Military General Pramono Edhie Wibowo. He expressed his gratitude for all his services, also expressed hope that the family remained strong and the army could emulate what Pramono Edhie could achieve while he served as Army Chief of Staff," General Andika Perkasa explained.

On Sunday morning, Indonesian President Joko Widodo invited the Military Chiefs of Staff to exercise in the Bogor Presidential Palace area, West Java.

Additionally, the President conveyed his message to the Military Forces to continue to assist in enforcing discipline among the public, ensuring that they abide by the health protocols.

The President stressed that disciplined practice of the protocols is very necessary in order to ensure that people can remain productive, while staying safe from COVID-19 transmission. (ANTARA)

Wisma Atlet Hospital for COVID-19 records 2,821 recoveries

The Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital (RS) for COVID-19 in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, has recorded a total number of 2,821 recoveries during the period of March 23-June 14, 2020.

"Since March 23, 2020, the hospital has treated a total of 4,499 inpatients, and discharged 2,821 patients recovering (from COVID-19)," Colonel Maris Aris Mudian, spokesman of the emergency hospital, said here on Sunday.

The number of recoveries increased by 77 on Sunday, compared to that on the previous day.

The hospital has also referred 134 patients to other hospitals, and recorded three patients that had died so far.

The hospital treated 527 inpatients contracting the novel coronavirus on Sunday.

"The Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital is now treating 573 inpatients comprising 327 men and 246 women," he said.

Meanwhile,the Galang Island Hospital for COVID-19 in Batam, Riau Islands Province, treated 56 inpatients, comprising 44 patients testing positive for COVID-19, and 12 patients under surveillance (PDP) on Sunday.

Since April 12, the Galang Island Hospital has registered a total of 174 inpatients and discharged 118 of them as they had recovered.

In the meantime,the Jakarta provincial administration continued to make efforts to identify new coronavirus clusters among merchants and customers at traditional markets in the capital city's administrative areas with the help of mass rapid tests. In anticipation of fresh clusters, rapid tests would be conducted at Bedeng Kemayoran/Cempaka Wangi Market in Harapan Mulya neighborhood, and Nangka Market in Utan Panjang neighborhood, head of Kemayoran Subdistrict Health Center, Buana, said here on Friday.

The mass COVID-19 tests were needed because 14 merchants at Serdang Market have recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease, Buana said, adding that he has requested rapid test kits from Jakarta's COVID-19 Task Force.

On June 3, 2020, the Kemayoran Health Center's paramedics held a mass COVID-19 test, screening 180 merchants at the Serdang Market. As per the test results, as of Friday (June 12, 2020), 14 of the 180 merchants have showed COVID-19 symptoms. (ANTARA)

Government spokesman for COVID-19 Handling, Achmad Yurianto, said that up until June 14 at 12 pm, the number of recovered coronavirus patients have increased by 755, with the total now reaching 14,531 recovered patients.

"We surely will continue (measures) by carrying out isolation well and provide treatments and therapy accordingly, which we can then see that the progress of recovery cases has risen rapidly," Yurianto said in a press conference of the Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling in Jakarta on Sunday.

He then noted that based on the data gathered up until Sunday at 12 pm local time, the number of positive cases increased by 857, making the total confirmed cases at 38,277. The recorded daily case numbers indicated a decrease compared to the day before with 1,014 new confirmed cases.

Furthermore, the death toll from the COVID-19 infections was recorded at 2,134 as a result of new 43 deaths.

In further detail, the highest rise of confirmed cases was located in East Java with a total increase of 196 cases, with 75 patients recovered.

Meanwhile, South Sulawesi recorded 133 new confirmed cases with 26 recoveries, DKI Jakarta recorded 117 new confirmed positive cases with 249 recoveries, Central Java noted 113 new confirmed cases with 20 recoveries, and South Kalimantan recorded 70 new positive cases and 30 recoveries.

Other 22 provinces reported a total of under 10 new cases, whilst another 10 recorded no new cases.

All provinces in Indonesia have recorded positive COVID-19 cases with three cities/districts noting new confirmed cases, making the total of cities/districts that had been impacted by COVID-19 at 430.

Yurianto further said that the number of patients under surveillance is now 13,547, while the total number of people under observation is 41,639.

He also explained that 18,760 specimens had been examined using realtime polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and molecular rapid test. (ANTARA)

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed his deep condolences on the passing of Former Army Chief of Staff General (ret) Pramono Edhie Wibowo.

"On behalf if the government and the people, I extend my deep condolences on the passing of Indonesian Military General Edhie Wibowo at the age of 65 years old," President Jokowi said in a statement from the Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java, Sunday.

Jokowi prayed for the late Wibowo's spirits and for his deeds to be accepted and granted the best place in the sight of the Almighty.

"He was a former Army Chief of Staff, an excellent Indonesian Military soldier, and may his soul be placed in the best place beside the Almighty, and may those he left  behind be given strength," he stated.

Pramono Edhie Wibowo, the brother-in-law of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, reportedly died of heart attack at the Cimacan Public Hospital in Cianjur District, West Java Province, on Saturday evening, after undergoing treatment for three hours.

His remains will be buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta, Sunday. His funeral will be led by Army Chief of Staff, General Andika Perkasa. (ANTARA)
