Last Saturday, June 22, 2019, Jakarta City commemorated its 492^nd anniversary. Initially, Jakarta was a port city called ‘Sunda Kelapa’. Then, Prince Fatahillah from the Sultanate of Banten conquered Sunda Kelapa and changed the name to Jayakarta on June 22, 1527. This date was subsequently designated as the date of the establishment of the Jakarta City. Meanwhile, when Jayakarta developed, it became a busy port city where traders from China, India, Arabic and European countries  as well as from other countries exchanged various commodities.After Indonesia's independence in 1945, Jakarta grew well. It has become not only the capital and center of government, but also the centers of business, finance and services. This status makes Jakarta a city of urbanization where people from various regions across Indonesia come to find a better life. As a result, Jakarta has become more crowded, jammed and less organized.As the theme of this year's commemoration, the Jakarta government raised the "New Face of Jakarta". According to Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, behind a new physical face, there must be a new perspective. New things can begin from the mind to the action. He emphasized the importance of changing the mindset to realize the New Face of Jakarta. He also pointed out that as a means of transportation, the Jakarta government has prepared sidewalks so that people would walk more often in the city.Jakarta is also expected to be a smart city similar to Seoul, South Korea or Tokyo, Japan. Head of the Jakarta Office of Communication, Information and Statistics (Diskominfotik), Atika Nur Rahmania emphasized that  Jakarta will be a smart city. Based on the Jakarta Smart City (JSC) website, Jakarta as the capital city is projected to become a smart city before 2025. There are six smart city categories that are interrelated: smart living, smart mobility, smart governance, smart environment, smart economy, and smart people. All of these must be a major concern. This means that essentially, the Jakarta government will develop information and communication technology to improve service quality for the community.Hopefully, the dream of becoming a smart city will come true sooner!

In the past, Batanghari people of Jambi province had cooking habit for lunch at garden which was called talang or ketalang in the local language. The food is called Gulai Talang. The local people of Jambi usually make the food for lunch, taken from materials which are easily found at the garden such as duck, partridge and mouse deer which could be hunted in surrounding garden. The Gulai Talang has simple ingredients, such as salt, red onion, garlic, chili, coriander, ginger, curcuma and lemongrass. Although, the food is cooked by using spices, gulai talang has unique tastes, a blend of spicy, sweet and sour. Currently, the local people of Jambi has gulai talang eating tradition, which is called masak talang, in of local community’s home which will hold celebration event. The Gulai Talang eating tradition is usually by a resident who wants to perform wedding event. The masak talang tradition is conducted at night before the party being held. In the masak talang tradition, all residents gather at the house. In the eating together which is called makan behidang, the gulai talang is served in a tray for three to four persons. Currently, Gulai Talang cannot only be eaten in celebration event or party. Anyone can try the typical culinary of Jambi at food stalls in the region. For example the brestaurant on Jalan lintas Batanghari-Tebo. The price is relatively cheap, only Rp.10,000 - Rp.15,000 per portion. In addition gulai talang, in Batanghari has also some other culinaries, such as gulai terjun. It is called gulai terjun, because all ingredients of the food such as bufallo’s meat, undak, coconut milk, chili and spices are cooked together. The situation is called by the local people with terjun means at once.

The theme, archipelago and Unity in Diversity colored the opening of Indonesian Days (ID) 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. Combination among Indonesian arts and cultures as well as clothes got attention from Hungarian citizens. Indonesian Ambassador to Hungary, A.H Dimas Wahab said that the theme is chosen to show Indonesia’s wealth and diversity in full by pressing Unity in Diversity of Indonesia.On the occasion, the annually promotion event was combined not only Hungarian people who came to the event, ambassadors of neighbor countries who attended the event, among other Malaysian and Thai ambassadors enjoyed various kinds of Indonesia typical foods and also shopped and watched Indonesian art and cultural performances.

Celebration of the 93rd birthday of the UK’s Queen, Elizabeth II in Jakarta becomes a farewell party of the UK’s ambassador to Indonesia, Moazzam Malik. Ambassador Malik who has officiated as representative of the UK’s government in Indonesia since 2014, ended his duty on June 21, 2019.In celebrating the 93rd Queen Elizabeth II birthday in Jakarta, on Wednesday evening (19/6), Ambassador Malik said goodbye and also underlined the achievement of Diplomatic Relation among Indonesia and the UK for 70 years which is also commemorated in 2019.During his term of office, Malik said that Indonesia and the UK have signed around 40 Memorandum of Understanding in various fields, beginning from economy, creative industry, education until environment.

Three Indonesian delegations who are joined Train Signaling Engineer Institution (Irse) will promote profession and also the development of Indonesia’s railway signal in England.One of the delegation, Ahmad Sugiana, expert of railway signal from Telkom University when met in Irse Sponsor Gathering in Jakarta, on Wednesday (19/6) said that currently, railway signal profession is not in demand yet, while railway project more grows.Another delegation, Yanto Yulianto, Head of Railway Department, Information of Telecommunication and Technology of PT MRT Jakarta, said that by explaining about signal development of MRT Jakarta, it is hoped the recruitmentof professionals either Indonesian or foreigner to contribute in railway signal in Indonesia could be done.It will also promote railway projects which are potential to be cooperated.

President Xi Jin Ping visited Pyongyang, North Korea before attending  the G 20 Summit,  to be held  in Osaka, Japan  on June 28-29 . This  is  the first Chinese leader's visit after 14 years. Relations between the two countries have been very close since China’s support to North Korea during the Korean war in the 50s. This closeness is not only about politics but also trade. China is North Korea's main trading partner. Even though it is more symbolic and does not carry a specific mission, this visit provides moral support to North Korea in  resolving the issue of its nuclear installation. What's more the problem faced by both of them is the United States, though not exactly the same. China faces economic problems caused by  the ongoing  trade war with the US. While  North Korea deals with nuclear installation issues. Indeed there is no plan to issue a joint communiqué, but at least there is an opportunity for the North Korean Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-un to deliver a message through the Chinese President to US President Donald Trump. President Xi Jin Ping plans to meet with President Trump at the G 20 Summit later. The Chinese President himself still hopes that there will be further negotiations between the United States and North Korea that have been deadlocked after two meetings between President Donald Trump and Leader Kim Jong-un. After the failure of the last meeting in Vietnam, the North Korean Supreme Leader was indeed mobilizing moral support from countries he considered close partners. Before meeting the President of the PRC, the North Korean leader visited Russian  President Vladimir Putin recently. Amid the trade war with the United States, President Xi also approached President Putin and even met twice. The first was during a bilateral visit to Moscow and the second at a Conference in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The world is  looking  forward to see whether the message from Kim Jong-un will be accepted by the United States. If so, it is likely that the third meeting between  President Donald Trump and Leader Kim Jong-un will be realized.
