Indonesia's excellent products were promoted at one of the largest malls in South Africa, Sandton City for a week on 14 – 20 September 2021. The Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria in its statement received in Jakarta on Saturday (18/9) stated that  the promotion was carried out by the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Johannesburg and supported by the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria.

The ITPC in Johannesburg and the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria exhibited the Indonesian products that have entered the South African market, including instant noodles, biscuits, coconut drinks, medicines, beauty and hair care products, tires and motor vehicle accessories, furniture, and several other excellent products. Indonesian Ambassador to South Africa, Salman Al Farisi mentioned that the aim of holding the promotions in stores was to raise the knowledge of South African people about Indonesian products in South Africa.

The Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria also noted that the promotional activities for Indonesian products received positive response from visitors of the Sandton City mall. Some visitors said that they have actually used Indonesian products for a long time, although they have just realized that these products are made in Indonesia.

In addition to showcasing  products that are already in the South African market, Indonesia also promoted products that have not yet entered the South African market, both from food and beverage products,  handicrafts, coffee, and personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks. Besides, ITPC and the Indonesian Embassy also distributed samples for instant noodle and coffee products.

Meanwhile, Head of ITPC Johannesburg, Anggun Paramita Mahdi explained that ITPC expects to be able to attract potential buyers from the promotion at the store, since there are no physical exhibitions held in South Africa, so that potential buyers can immediately see and try Indonesian products. She hopes that the promotion can increase the trade cooperation between Indonesia and South Africa.
