Thirty-two units of electric motorbikes made by Indonesia Gesits arrived in Thies City, Senegal last Friday (17/12) in the form of completely knocked down (CKD). Indonesian Ambassador in Dakar, Dindin Wahyudin opened the container door to officially mark the arrival of the 32 units of Gesits electric motorbikes in Senegal. This inaugural export of PT WIKA Industri Manufaktur (WIMA) completed the delivery of 6 units of Completely Built Up -CBU of Gesits motorbikes which first arrived in May 2021.

The welcoming ceremony was attended by Makhtar Ndiaye, Director of Ndiaye Transport, Samba Coumba Samb, Chairperson of the Senegal Moto Taxi Association, two technicians from PT WIMA, Indonesian Embassy staff, Ndiaye Transport staff and local media. While in Thies City, both technicians then carried out assembling Gesits motors and providing training in electrical and mechanical skills for the local technicians.

In his remarks, Ambassador Dindin Wahyudin said that the first export of Gesits in Senegal is a strong initiative from all relevant stakeholders to present environmentally-friendly, efficient and modern products. The Indonesian Embassy in Dakar is actively promoting Gesits, not only in Senegal, but also in other West African countries.

Furthermore, Ambassador Dindin Wahyudin also stated that the commitment to use environmentally-friendly technology in daily life is a necessity. To respond to these challenges, Gesits has been present in Senegal and will be followed in a number of other West African countries.

Gesits promotions were also carried out at the Indonesian booth during the FIDAK international trade fair which took place from 6 to 20 December 2021 and at the Business Forum on 9 December 2021. At the two events in question, the enthusiasm and interest of the people of Senegal and West Africa tended to be positive. This was indicated by plans to purchase at least 15 units of Gesits motorbikes. This export and promotion activity are a concrete manifestation of the implementation of economic diplomacy in a bid to support the Go-Global State-Owned Enterprises program.
