Minister, Chinese Ambassador discuss communication cooperation

Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate  met with the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Lu Kang, on Thursday to discuss bilateral cooperation in the information and communication sector.  

During the meeting, the ambassador assured of his support for Indonesia's digital transformation, Plate informed here on Thursday.



He also said that he will strive to ensure that the efforts of Chinese companies seeking to invest in or carry out ICT infrastructure work in Indonesia meet with success, he added.



The discussion with the ambassador covered a broad range of subjects, starting from upstream infrastructure technology to the utilization of digital space in the form of informatics applications, the minister informed.



"I expect that this cooperation continues to grow and develop to support 4G network and to develop 5G technology in Indonesia," he said.



Meanwhile, Ambassador Lu said that the discussion with the minister was warm and substantive. One of the aspects highlighted by Lu was the development of digital infrastructure from upstream to downstream to encourage economic recovery.



Industry and economy have become important areas for recovery. Moreover, the people can see that digital transformation and digital economy are among the priorities under the instruction of President Joko Widodo, the ambassador noted.



Minister Plate also offered many suggestions on how the development of digital infrastructure can be continued and made tangible. The minister also underlined the importance of transformation from upstream to downstream, he said.



During the meeting, Plate said that the management of personal data and institutions related to it will be stipulated in the Personal Data Protection Law.



In addition to institutional management, the data protection law will outline obligations and penalties for those who violate the law. (Antaranews)
