Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand, Rachmat Budiman  and Governor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipunt held a meeting  at Bangkok City Hall last Monday (27/2) to discuss many aspects. One of them is strengthening cooperation between the Jakarta-Bangkok twin cities (1/3). Ambassador Rachmat  pointed out that Jakarta and Bangkok have already  had very good cooperation. He further said this cooperation can be strengthened’ one of which is by extending the memorandum of understanding document for the Jakarta-Bangkok twin cities.

The  extension text of the memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed by Governor of Jakarta,Heru Budi Hartono.and Governor Chadchart Sittipunt  in a meeting of governors and mayors from ASEAN capitals and the ASEAN Mayors Forum in Jakarta 2023.   Ambassador Rachmat also hopes that Governor Chadchart can attend the meeting in Jakarta. At the same time, the potential for cooperation can be explored by both capital cities as the implementation of the twin city agreement.

Meanwhile, Governor Chadchart positively welcomed the efforts to finalize the Jakarta-Bangkok twin city agreement documents and the implementation efforts contained in the text of the cooperation action plan. He also suggested that the action plans can be carried out not only  for the technical cooperation sector, but also for the soft cooperation sector power, such as art and culture.

Apart from the twin city cooperation, Ambassador Rachmat further expressed plans to organize the Indonesia Forum for Trade, Tourism, Investment and Culture, which will be held in Bangkok from 15 until 17 of September 2023. Related to the Indonesian cultural evening event, Governor Chadchart welcomed the offer of collaboration between arts and culture at the event. Then, he conveyed that his side would follow up on the technical discussion of the intended form of cooperation.
