Indonesia, Singapore Strengthens Bilateral Cooperation

Jakarta (voinews): President Joko Widodo and Singapore Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong held a bilateral meeting, Thursday (16/3), at the Singapore Presidential Palace.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed a number of collaborations in various fields.

"Overall in today's meeting there were 20 letters of intent - private interest - Singapore to invest in IKN Nusantara. Then, 9 B-to-B MoUs in the fields of energy, healthcare and digital. And the 7 G-to-G MoUs, among others, in the fields of energy, health and digital," the President said in a joint press statement after the bilateral meeting, which was delivered via the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube channel.

Regarding the construction of the Archipelago Capital City (IKN), the President welcomed the high interest of investors from Singapore. In addition, the Head of State welcomed the agreement between the two countries to increase investment in new and renewable energy (EBT).

"Investment in the field of new and renewable energy will be used to fulfill the energy needs of the two countries," said the Head of State.

Furthermore, the Head of State welcomed the cooperation between the governments of Indonesia and Singapore in the digital field, as well as the development of human resources (HR) in the field of information technology.

"Including (cooperation) on investment and data centers, and cooperation on human resource development in the field of information technology," said the President.

President Joko Widodo also welcomed the cooperation between the two countries in the field of trade, one of which is through Indonesian livestock products to meet needs in Singapore.

"In the field of trade, Indonesian livestock products have begun to enter to supply chicken needs in Singapore," said the Head of State.

Furthermore, the Head of State welcomed the cooperation between the two countries in terms of strengthening health services in the country.

"(Cooperation) strengthening basic health services and health technology as well as investing in developing hospitals in Indonesia," said the President.

Meanwhile PM Lee said the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Singapore had been going very well.

According to him, the two leaders of the countries have succeeded in taking a big step forward as well as resolving issues that have been going on for a long time.
