VOINews, Bandung: The ASEAN vision as a single tourism destination encourages strong collaboration between ASEAN countries, says the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno. The vision also emphasizes the importance of cultural exchange between each country in the Southeast Asia region.

"ASEAN's vision as a single destination encourages strong collaboration and cultural exchange," he said in his recorded remarks at the 46th Diplomatic Forum held by RRI Voice of Indonesia in Bandung, West Java, Thursday (2/11/2023).

He said Southeast Asia is rich in cultural, historical, and natural diversity. According to him, ASEAN has received recognition as a single, integrated tourist destination.

"One of the main opportunities is seen in the rich experiences that ASEAN offers. The idea of ASEAN as a single destination promotes easier cross-border travel, allowing tourists to explore various countries in one trip," he explained.

However, according to Sandiaga, this still faces the challenges. ASEAN should harmonize cultural differences and differences in economic levels between countries in the region, especially in balancing the preservation of traditions and the environment which can meet tourism needs.

"This challenge must be overcome to ensure that the region's various attractive offers can be enjoyed responsibly and fairly," he concluded. (Andy Romdoni)
