Indonesia-Namibia joint maritime training in Jakarta

The Indonesian Embassy in Windhoek, Namibia on Friday (3/11) released some staff of Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (NAMFI) and Directorate of Maritime Affairs (DMA) to join Training of Trainers (ToT) in Jakarta.

Indonesian Ambassador to Namibia Wisnu Edi Pratignyo in a release received on Sunday (29/10) explained that the training aimed to improve the capacity of Namibian maritime instructors which is a part of the implementation of Indonesia-Namibia MoU and Action Plan in maritime and fisheries as agreed in 2018.

Wisnu said the training participant release was a pre-departure gathering which prepared the participants for the ToT program and to introduce Indonesia.

In October 2023, Indonesia agreed to  provide 
a 288 thousand USD international development aid to Namibia in the form of training. According to Wisnu, in 2011 until 2019, there have been six capacity building activities held in Indonesia and joined by participants from Namibia. Seamanship Training and Improvement Education Center under the Transportation Manpower Development Agency (BPSDMP) of the Transportation Ministry on November 6-19, 2023 and joined by 19 participants from Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (NAMFI) and Directorate of Maritime Affairs (DMA).
