Voinews, Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police (Polri) is planning to gradually move 30,878 personnel to the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the transfer of Polri personnel will be carried out in four stages.

"In the first stage, we will relocate 1,667 personnel to IKN, then 9,484 personnel, followed by 9,685 personnel for the third stage, and lastly, 9,678 personnel for the fourth stage," he said at the groundbreaking for the construction of the Nusantara Special Resort Police station on Thursday.

He noted that 708 officers would be stationed at the special police office for the IKN area and have undergone an assessment at the East Kalimantan Regional Police.

"While waiting for the development process and determining the organizational structure, these personnel are already placed at the East Kalimantan Regional Police, and we have distributed them to the supporting police stations," Prabowo said.

The general ensured that the National Police would continue to monitor President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) policies, including for development of the IKN area.

"The National Police is committed to mobilizing all the resources we have to oversee all of the president's policies, especially overseeing the development of IKN Nusantara," he emphasized.

The groundbreaking was also attended by President Jokowi who stated that the construction will take about nine months to complete, with a budget of Rp160 billion (US$10.3 million) on 6,189 square meters of land in an area of approximately 12 hectares.

He expressed optimism that the existence of the Nusantara Special Resort police would genuinely improve services and protection for the people, strengthen law enforcement measures, as well as boost stability and security in Indonesia's future capital.

The president also reminded that the design of the police office should be adjusted to align with the green building concept//ANT-VOI
