VOInews, Jakarta: The Government of Vietnam began to look at the potential of Muslim-friendly tourism in Vietnam. Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong said the Vietnamese government needs to maximize the availability of halal services in Vietnam.
"We need to maximize the availability of halal services in Vietnam, if it is not maximized, it will be very difficult to attract Indonesians to go to Vietnam," Ambassador Ta Van Thong explained to the media in Jakarta, Thursday (4/1/2024).
Vietnam now has prayer rooms at every international airport, and in every tourist city. Therefore, Ambassador Ta Van Thong sees the importance of improving halal services in Vietnam.
"It is important to increase the availability of halal food and services in Vietnam to welcome more Indonesian people who are predominantly Muslim," Ambassador Ta Van Thong continued.
Ambassador Ta Van Thong also said that the Vietnamese government is now aggressively developing halal certification for domestic industrial purposes, in collaboration with the Indonesian Government.
"Halal certificates are expected to be part of accelerating the development of halal industry and tourism in Vietnam," he said.
The certification covers not only food products, but also various other industrial products intended for Muslim consumers and tourists visiting Vietnam.
Vietnam has also opened direct flights Ho Chi Minh City - Denpasar Bali, Ho Chi Minh City- Jakarta and Hanoi - Jakarta, where the number of passengers on flights between the two countries throughout 2023 reached 1 million. Meanwhile, the trade volume between the two countries has reached USD 14 billion or equivalent to Rp216 trillion.
