Head of Data Center, Information, and Public Relations of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency-BNPB, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said that the medical treatment for the victims of quake and tsunami in Palu, Donggala, Sigi, and Parigi Moutong, Central Sulawesi ran well. He said as many as 146 members of teams along with 1,175 personnel consisting of general practitioners, specialists, nurses, and anesthesiologists have been deployed. In a press conference held in Jakarta, on Sunday (7/10), Sutopo said that the Indonesian Military has also sent floating hospital at the KRI (Ship of the Republic of Indonesia) dr. Soeharso at Pantoloan Port in Palu.

“In total, there are 146 members of teams along with 1,175 personnel deployed to handle the medical treatment. They consist of 121 specialists, 278 general practitioners, 15 anesthesiologists, 527 nurses, and more. I got information that dr. Soeharso Floating Hospital has also been prepared to treat the victims, some also have been operated at the hospital located in a ship owned by the Indonesian Military,” said Sutopo.

Furthermore, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the medical treatment could be implemented in the form of static service namely providing health treatment directly in the location or mobile service in the location of the refugees. Sutopo also instructed those who want to help the victims not to give milk for infants as there is no enough supply of water in the refugee camp, since it can increase the risk of diarrhea for the infants.
