VOInews, Jakarta: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi encourages the creation of an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. According to her, a ceasefire will change many things in the conflict that occurs there.

"This will be a game changer for everything. Most importantly, it will provide space to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza, start post-conflict reconstruction efforts, and the two-state solution process," Retno said during the UN Security Council Open Debate at UN Headquarters in New York, United States, on Tuesday (23/1/2024).

She also emphasized the importance of continuing to support the efforts of the Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator to pave the way for the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Retno also emphasized that Palestine should be accepted as a full member of the UN. According to her, this effort is an important factor in realizing the Two-State Solution.

"This is important so that a fair and balanced process can begin immediately to realize a two-state solution and prevent further atrocities by Israel," she said.

Furthermore, Retno also highlighted the supply of weapons to Israel. She argued that the supply of weapons must be stopped because they are used to kill innocent civilians.

"Israel must be responsible for its actions, including the atrocities they committed in Gaza," she explained.

On that occasion, he also emphasized that no country is above the law. For this reason, Indonesia will submit an oral statement to provide an advisory opinion to the International Court of Justice on the questions raised by the UN High School.

"Indonesia will take all possible steps to continue supporting Palestine," he concluded.
