The Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, continues to encourage the increase of Indonesian exports and investment in the country through various international events.

Information obtained by Antara on Friday (15/11) mentioned that the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo introduced Indonesia's potential at the 27th Session of the Arab-African Investment and International Cooperation Summit held in the city of New Aswan, Egypt, on 11-15 November 2024.

Trade Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, M. Syahran Bhakti, on the sidelines of the Arab-African Investment Summit in New Aswan on 12 November, said that the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo always encourages Egyptian-Indonesian businesses to increase the export-import trade flow between the two countries. In addition to encouraging businesses to increase trade flows, Syahran also considered the international summit as a good opportunity to exchange export and import business experiences, investment, tourism, and culture between the participating countries.

He explained that the value of bilateral trade between Indonesia and Egypt in the January-September 2024 period was recorded at 1.21 billion U.S. dollars (equivalent to 19.2 trillion rupiahs), or an increase of 4.41 percent from 1.16 billion U.S. dollars (equivalent to 18.4 trillion rupiahs) in the same period in 2023. Indonesia's exports to Egypt in the January-September 2024 period amounted to US$1.07 billion, an increase of 9.17 percent compared to the same period in 2023 of US$988 million. Of the total trade value, Indonesia managed to maintain a trade surplus with a surplus value of 942.3 million US dollars, or an increase of 15.98 percent from the same period in 2023.

Meanwhile, Economic Function Coordinator of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, Tennike, added that Indonesia-Egypt trade cooperation has a great opportunity to be increased in the future. This is because trade cooperation between the two countries is complementary, and both countries offer ample investment space for cooperation, both in the form of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) and Joint Ventures between business actors.
