Djibouti Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed paid a courtesy call on Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
 
"We have just talked with the Djibouti prime minister about our relations and good steps to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries," Kalla stated following a closed-door meeting with Mohamed.
 
Mohamed visited Indonesia to seek the government's support to develop sciences, particularly in utilizing geothermal energy through cooperation with Indonesia.
 
The Djibouti government hopes Indonesia would send its professional workers to help the Eastern African country develop its human resources, particularly in developing geothermal energy.
 
"We hope to receive support from the Indonesian government to increase capacity building and the capacity of experts in the geothermal industry in Djibouti. The Indonesian government will help Djibouti develop its geothermal industry," Mohamed remarked.
 
"The Indonesian government has capacity in the sector and has helped our neighbor Kenya. Therefore, we hope they will do the same for Djibouti," he remarked.
 
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, who accompanied Kalla during the meeting, noted that Indonesia will prepare scholarships for 25 Djibouti citizens to study geothermal industry in Indonesia. (ANTARA)
