The Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital (RS) for COVID-19 in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, has recorded a total number of 2,821 recoveries during the period of March 23-June 14, 2020.

"Since March 23, 2020, the hospital has treated a total of 4,499 inpatients, and discharged 2,821 patients recovering (from COVID-19)," Colonel Maris Aris Mudian, spokesman of the emergency hospital, said here on Sunday.

The number of recoveries increased by 77 on Sunday, compared to that on the previous day.

The hospital has also referred 134 patients to other hospitals, and recorded three patients that had died so far.

The hospital treated 527 inpatients contracting the novel coronavirus on Sunday.

"The Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital is now treating 573 inpatients comprising 327 men and 246 women," he said.

Meanwhile, the Galang Island Hospital for COVID-19 in Batam, Riau Islands Province, treated 56 inpatients, comprising 44 patients testing positive for COVID-19, and 12 patients under surveillance (PDP) on Sunday.

Since April 12, the Galang Island Hospital has registered a total of 174 inpatients and discharged 118 of them as they had recovered.

In the meantime, the Jakarta provincial administration continued to make efforts to identify new coronavirus clusters among merchants and customers at traditional markets in the capital city's administrative areas with the help of mass rapid tests. In anticipation of fresh clusters, rapid tests would be conducted at Bedeng Kemayoran/Cempaka Wangi Market in Harapan Mulya neighborhood, and Nangka Market in Utan Panjang neighborhood, head of Kemayoran Subdistrict Health Center, Buana, said here on Friday.

The mass COVID-19 tests were needed because 14 merchants at Serdang Market have recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease, Buana said, adding that he has requested rapid test kits from Jakarta's COVID-19 Task Force.

On June 3, 2020, the Kemayoran Health Center's paramedics held a mass COVID-19 test, screening 180 merchants at the Serdang Market. As per the test results, as of Friday (June 12, 2020), 14 of the 180 merchants have showed COVID-19 symptoms. (ANTARA)
