Indonesia as an archipelagic country has big islands such as Java, Kalimantan, Sumatera, Sulawesi and Papua. There are also small islands which have many natural tourism potentials. Take for example, Rupat island in Malacca strait. Administratively, the island belongs to the regency of Bengkalis territory, Riau province. Rupat Island covers around 1,500 m2 and it is located between Malaysia and Sumatera Island. The beaches on the island also directly border with Malacca strait. On the island, there is beach called ‘Pesona Pulau Rupat’ which stretches out until 3 regions on Rupat island beginning from Tanjung Lapin, Rhu bay, until Punak cape. Thus, Pesona Pulau Rupat is often called with the name which is given by each region. The beautiful attraction of Rupat Island is both on its nature and culture. The island has also typical dance, called ‘Zapin Api’ dance. The dance, which is accompanied by Malay music, is full of mystic. Because, before the attraction is begun, the dancers who consist of 5 male dancers, will circle burnt incense. During the performance, audiences are allowed to light fire. The dance is almost extinct because the dance’s leader is only 2 persons who are getting older. Thus, the dance needs new generation to preserve for young generation. Rupat Island can be accessed from Pekanbaru, Dumai, or Bengkalis. The main line of transportation to the island is by sea. If one departs from Dumai, they can use roll-on-roll Dumai-Rupat ship whose departure time has been scheduled. The trip from Dumai to Rupat Island takes around 20-30 minutes. While if you depart from Bengkalis, it will take around 2 hours. If you want to stay at night, you can rent local people’s house or homestay.

On 22nd September 2018, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java has just inaugurated Taman Gandrung Terakota -TGT. The tourism icon of Bayuwangi that will attract young tourists has hundreds of Gandrung dance statues. The park becomes special because it was built at terrace rice fields under Mt. Ijen located in Jiwa Jawa Ijen Resort,  Licin sub-district, Banyuwangi. According to  Sigit Pramono, an initiator of Taman Gandrung Terakota, the  park is a site to preserve and reconcile   Gandrung dance  as one of cultural identities of Banyuwangi. Moreover, he said that Gandrung art is a form of gratitude of flourishing agriculture output. Therefore, the site of Rawat Tari Gandrung is located at rice farming where the farmers keep plowing rice field by buffalo, planting and cropping paddy. Taman Gandrung Terakota is inspired by Terracotta Warrior and Horses in China, which was built at Qin Shi Huang during the emperor era in 259-210 BC. The setting involved art curators from Galeri Nasional Indonesia and a lecturer of   Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, Dr. Suwarno Wisetrotomo. There are about 1,000 statues of Gandrung dance at the Park. The statues are placed separately and collectively. The park is called ‘Terakota’ because it is another name of pottery that is used as a basic material of visualization for Gandrung dance. Models of statue at Taman Gandrung Terakota are taken by a photographer, Sigit’s photos. Then, the photos were created to be statues by Budi Santoso artist and were printed by statue makers in Kasongan, Yogyakarta. The statues were made manually one by one. Even though they have the same formation, there are some differences. The major differences are facial expressions and smiles of Gandrung dance. The statues were made of pottery, such as burned clay. It was made of pottery because the pottery has strong philosophy related to Gandrung dance, it is meant to be closer with nature based on the philosophy of life. If you are in Taman Gandrung Terakota, you can enjoy beauty of Mt. Ijen whose height is 2.443 meters above sea level at the west side. Mt. Ijen has crater which radiates blue flame globally. Wayang or puppet is an Indonesian original art which develops rapidly on Java and Bali Island. The performance is also well known in some regions such as Sumatera and Malayan peninsula, which is influenced by Javanese and Hindu culture. In 2003, UNESCO announced that Wayang has officially entered in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO since 2008. In the development, Wayang has some types such as Wayang Kulit, Wayang Golek, Wayang Orang, and many others. In addition to those types, there is also a Wayang Ringkang or art puppet which was popularized in 2007. Wayang Ringkang is contemporary one which is innovation of Wayang Golek. Wayang Ringkang is played by colossal puppeteers who may reach 20-50 puppeteers. The Wayang art also collaborates with Rampak Kendang, Rampak Sekar, dance and  Wayang Orang. To play Wayang Ringkang, it needs Wayang arena or Jagat with the size twice from Jagat on general Wayang arena. In the Wayang Ringkang performance, the main puppeteer will read dialog, while other puppeteers guide Wayang. In the performance, the puppeteer will guide the Wayang while standing. This makes the size of Jagat become bigger than Wayang performance in general. During the performance, Wayang Ringkang is also accompanied by  Gamelan and brought in Sundanese language with communicative style. Although Wayang Ringkang performance is delivered in communicative style, the story is also delivered and it still contains philosophical values of people’s life in the past, present time and in the future. Ki Tantan Sugandi who is the initiator of Wayang Ringkang, hopes that the Wayang art can raise potential of young generation in puppet show. Until now, West Java government has continued to promote Wayang Ringkang. All of them are conducted in order Indonesian traditional art can be preserved from time to time.
