The young generation of Indonesia must have a comprehensive understanding of Pancasila. This was disclosed by the Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives –DPR, Zainudin Amali during a hearing with the Head of Staff Office of President and Head of UKP-PIP, at the Parliament Building, Senayan in Jakarta on Wednesday (7/2/2018). Zainudin Amali views that a comprehensive understanding of Pancasila is essential to face the challenges of globalization and the inclusion of transnational thoughts. Thus, the existence of the Presidential Work Unit of Pancasila Ideology Development (UKP-PIP) is very important to face the challenges of this era.
A similar opinion was stated by member of the Commission IX of the DPR, Nurmansah Tanjung. During the dissemination of the Four Pillars, namely Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in Bogor, West Java on Sunday (11/2), he affirmed that Pancasila should be the permanent house of all Indonesian people who live across Indonesia. He also stated that Pancasila is able to counteract negative aspects in the state. He reminded that the future generations must fully understand Pancasila.
Deputy Chairman of People’s Consultative Assembly –MPR, Oesman Sapta disclosed that to remember and understand Pancasila, someone must start from their inner heart and mind. This was expressed in the socialization of the Four Pillars of the Assembly to hundreds of cadres of the Pancasila Youth Organization in Haj Padang Dormitory, West Sumatera last Thursday (8/2/2018). As quoted from the page MPR RI, to the participants of that activity, Oesman Sapta reminded to continue to maintain Pancasila.
Previously, Head of Working Unit of President of Pancasila Ideology of Pancasila - UKP PIP, Yudi Latief mentioned that radicalism understanding can be coped with if social justice is really realized. Moreover, Pancasila has mandated it. In a public discussion on the topic of "Religious Radicalism and Its Threat to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia" held in Jakarta on Tuesday (6/2), Yudi Latief explained that Pancasila principles have comprehensively interpreted the ways to overcome radicalism. He insists on overcoming radicalism not only with symbols of tolerance, but the basic problems to be solved.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of MPR, Mahyudin said that there are many national challenges that have occurred since Indonesia was independent. As written in the page mpr.go.id, Mahyudin affirmed that there are always individuals and groups trying to disrupt the ideology of the Pancasila. He is grateful that nowadays, there is a spirit of various elements of the nation to re-actualize Pancasila all over Indonesia. He emphasized that all elements of the Indonesian nation are to jointly strive hard and unite to face all the challenges of the nation. Having succeeded in bringing the people of Indonesia to the front gate of independence that is free, united, sovereign, all of them are jointly striving to realize justice and prosperity.

President Joko Widodo inaugurated the venue of indoor and outdoor tennis courts at Gelora Bung Karno Complex (GBK), on Saturday (3/2/2018) morning. The indoor and Outdoor tennis courts had been renovated for 16 months at a cost of about 92 billion rupiah. During the visit and inauguration of the venue for the ASIAN GAMES 2018, President Joko Widodo was accompanied by several cabinet ministers, MPR Chairman Zulkfli Hasan, PPP Chairman Muhammad Romahurmuziy, and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
The President said in his speech, the inauguration shows that Indonesia is getting ready to welcome the 2018 Asian Games to be held in August. Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works and People's Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono said from 14 venues renovated 7 that were inaugurated. After signing the Inauguration Inscription, the President symbolically received a tennis racket from the legendary Indonesian tennis player Yayuk Basuki Yustedjo Tariq.
Previously, President Joko Widodoi had inaugurated Senayan Sports Palace, which is commonly used as the location of basketball and badminton matches. The President had also inaugurated Bung Karno Main Stadium - GBK on 14 January. The inauguration was accompanied by field trials featuring matches between the Indonesian national team against the Icelandic national team. In December 2017, four venues were inaugurated by the President, namely Hokey, Archery, and ABC Football Fields, plus a Swimming/Aquatik Stadium.
Meanwhile, in relation to the smoothness of the athletes trip from the hotel to the venue, the 2018 Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) will enforce an open-close system in traffic arrangements in Gelora Bung Karno Senayan, Jakarta. As a traffic engineering test, the committee will perform trials on February 8-15. Secretary General of INASGOC Eris Herryanto in a written statement received by Antara in Jakarta on Wednesday night said that the traffic jam-bearing system also applies around the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah following the implementation of the trial championship in two locations . In implementing the traffic flow for the smooth journey of athletes and officials of the 18 contingents, INASGOC involves Metro Jaya Regional Police and DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Department. INASGOC has also requested that Transjakarta bus lanes will become the track of vehicles with Asian Games stickers. INASGOC is also still coordinating with Jasa Marga related to the use of inner city toll road as the official route of Asian Games 2018.

Indonesian Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati confirmed that Indonesia continues to maintain good economic growth momentum by maintaining performance stability from the State Budget -APBN. Minister Sri Mulyani said this in Jakarta on Wednesday (7/2), responding to the International Monetary Fund -IMF's recent assessment to the Indonesian economy. She also said that one of the efforts to maintain the stability of the State Budget performance is to maintain the budget deficit in a controlled level and approved by the law, which is three percent for the gross domestic product -DP. According to Sri Mulyani, the consolidation of the state budget becomes a cornerstone when an economic outbreak comes from outside.
Previously, The International Monetary Fund –IMF launched the assessment results which was contained in the Consultation Report article 4 to Indonesia in 2017. The report has been discussed in the IMF Executive Council meeting in Washington DC on January 10, 2018. The IMF assessed that Indonesia is currently in a good position to overcome various social-economic challenges. The position is supported with the recovery of performance in the investment and export sectors, which growing positively since 2017. IMF estimated, with the fiscal reform scenario, the Indonesian potential growth can reach 6.5 percent on the middle term in 2022. All IMF Executive Directors in the meeting appreciated Indonesian economy and welcome the country’s short-term policy of authority which is intended to support the economic growth and keep its stability. The Board of Directors also viewed positively the efforts of the authorities that focus on public spending to priority sectors and welcomed the progress of infrastructure investment in Indonesia. The Executive Director of the IMF also emphasizes that good structural fiscal reform stages should be a priority.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), Agus Martowardojo said the IMF views are in line with the assessment of BI which believes that the resilience of the Indonesian economy is getting better. Inflation during 2017 was at a low level of 3.61 percent (year on year). So, over the last three years, inflation has been successfully controlled within the target range. According to him, the economic growth in 2017 reached 5.07 percent supported by the improvement of infrastructure investment by the government and the role of private investment. In addition, the improvement was marked by a healthy current account balance and high inflows of foreign capital, as well as a stable Rupiah exchange rate. With these developments, Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves at the end of 2017 reached the highest record in the history of $130.2 billion dollars. In line with that, the stability of financial system during 2017 is still maintained.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo Recognizes Significant Progress in Handling Land and Forest Fire.
Welcome to the segment of My Indonesia. The title of today’s edition is ‘Indonesian President Joko Widodo Recognizes Significant Progress in Handling Land and Forest Fire’.
In a Coordinating Meeting of Forest and Land Fire Control 2018 which took place in Jakarta on Tuesday (6/2), President Joko Widodo reiterated the commitment of governors, regents, mayors, TNI leaders and Polri leaders in their respective areas to protect their territory from fire. The statement was conveyed by the President, considering that this year's weather conditions are estimated to be drier compared to last year. All parties are demanded to be prepared. In addition, along with the implementation of the Asian Games in August, Indonesia is predicted to enter the dry season. President Joko Widodo asserted, this is betting of Indonesia's reputation in the eyes of the international world, if there is smoke that may disrupt the implementation of Asian Games event. Moreover, the President also said that land and forest fires can be prevented if all parties can work together, so that it is no longer to become national disaster and international spotlight.
Learning from forest and land fires in 2015, President Joko Widodo greatly appreciated, within two years there has been a significant progress in controlling the case. He said, there is a very significant reduction of hotspots. By 2015, the number of hotspots reached 21,929 points, in 2016 down to 3,915, and in 2017 down to 2,567 hotspots.
President Joko Widodo said that at the Asian Summit, the Prime Minister of Malaysia and Singapore usually complained about smoke. But this year, Indonesia received appreciation from the two countries. Learning from the forest and land fires in 2015, the Indonesian government has established Early Detection System of Fire Prevention since 2017. In the system, there has been shown daily hotspot data and fire map. The people can access through sipongi.menlhk.go.id page. In addition, an integrated system has also been built among the related stakeholders in handling the land and forest fire.
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry in cooperation with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN) have facilitated detection and monitoring. The regional governments and businesspeople have conducted fire prevention efforts with standard operating procedures (SOPs) that are defined in terms of facilities and personnel and unfueled land clearing techniques. They also establish and foster a fire-caring society (MPA), so that people are aware of the importance of self-prevention efforts.

Welcome back to the segment of My Indonesia over RRI World Service -Voice of Indonesia. Today, we’ll present you a topic about the Indonesian Government Seriously Recovers Citarum River.
The Indonesian government seriously restores condition and environment along the Basin of Citarum River. Citarum River is located in West Java and flows eight districts and cities. Citarum River as the longest river in West Java is a source of water for three large reservoirs. The damage in the Citarum River basin reaches 8 hundred thousand hectares. Uncontrolled problems of industrial waste, agriculture, livestock, and households have also damaged the water quality. As a result, the water cannot be consumed. Pollution and serious sedimentation also occur up to the downstream of the river.
President Joko Widodo held a limited meeting on the revitalization of Citarum River in Bandung on Tuesday (16/1). The President requested that the recovery of the Citarum River should be done quickly and should be completed within 7 years. He asked all central and regional governments to work together, because the river management must be integrated, starting from the preparation of the concept, implementation, to the supervision in the field.
Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs, Luhut Pandjaitan has targeted, the water of Citarum River can be consumed in the next 5 to 10 years. The government is ready to spend trillions of rupiah from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget and Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget. He views that the Government of West Java province cannot solve the Citarum River problem alone and it needs synergy. Therefore, President Joko Widodo will soon issue a Presidential Regulation.
Minister Luhut Panjaitan said in a press release in Jakarta on Wednesday that at an early stage, the government will start rehabilitating the forests and inviting both civilian and military leaders in their respective regions to call for all communities to tackle this issue together. The Citarum River will be divided into 22 sectors and high-ranking TNI officials are demanded to coordinate with environmental experts, lawyers, humanists, students and the whole community.
Previously, the Regional Military Command -Kodam III/Siliwangi has initiated the revitalization of the Citarum River since early 2018, by cleaning from upstream to downstream area. Head of Information of Kodam III / Siliwangi Colonel Dessy Arianto explained, the Citarum upstream area was done with a greening movement, on an area of 690 thousand hectares. Therefore, it takes 121 million trees. In 1 to 6 months, they plan to restore the area by cleaning up garbage, reducing sedimentation and building communal toilets.
Commander of Regional Military III/Siliwangi, Doni Monardo also conveyed his presentation before the entrepreneurs related to the revitalization of Citarum River on Friday 12/1.
A number of entrepreneurs have expressed their commitment to participate in the recovery of Citarum River ecosystem. Various forms of contribution will be accommodated through a foundation which will be established, especially related to the recovery of Citarum River. On that occasion, hundreds of entrepreneurs from various regions were invited to discuss about the recovery issues. A number of businesspeople then agreed to distribute relief funds amounting to Rp20 billion.

Cabinet Secretary, Pramono Anung and several Ministers held a meeting to discuss the change of the Presidential Working Unit of Pancasila’s Ideology -UKP-PIP to become the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency at the State Secretariat in Jakarta last Wednesday (10/01). As quoted by Liputan6.com, The ministers who attended the meeting were Minister of State Secretary -Pratikno, Minister of Home Affairs -Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of Law and Human Rights -Yasonna Laoly, Minister of Administrative Reform of Bureaucracy -Asman Abnur, and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani.
In the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Pramono explained the finalization of the UKP-PIP. He also remarked that the discussion about promotion of UKP-PIP to become the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency has been done since last month. One of the reasons was to facilitate coordination with various ministries. Pramono added that the change brings about different organizational structure.
The Pancasila Ideology Development Agency will consist of Steering Committee, Chief, three Deputies and Deputy Head and Executive Secretary. The Steering Committee is chaired by Megawati Soekarnoputri, which consists of Try Sutrisno, Ahmad Syafii Ma'arif, Said Aqil Siroj, Ma'ruf Amin, Mahfud MD, Sudhamek, Andreas Anangguru Yewangoe, and Vishnu Bawa Tenaya. In addition, the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency also remains seated by Yudi Latif.
Pramono said that the existence of this body is very important. He views that the ideology of Pancasila becomes very urgent for the nation's interest in the long term.
The Presidential Work Unit of Pancasila Ideology Development was initially established by President Joko Widodo to combat activities that contradict with Pancasila values. Through the existence of the UKP-PIP, Pancasila ideology in Indonesian society was more powerful, both through education and social activities.
Related to the importance of maintaining the ideology of Pancasila, Minister of Defense, Ryamizard Ryacudu in the Press Conference Meeting of the Ministry of Defense Leadership in Jakarta last Thursday (11/01) to Media said that Pancasila must be maintained. He views that Pancasila values are able to unite the entire nation of Indonesia. He also pointed out that the Indonesian military -TNI has become an established and solid organization in safeguarding the Ideology of Pancasila.
“…Because Pancasila is our only unifying tool, the unifying tool of the nation. It is all true, but the most solid organization that carries out the unity of this nation is Indonesia military –TNI. Why? Because TNI exists everywhere from one place to another one. So, TNI is solid first and then, we call for this nation to unite. How we call for people to be united, if we are not united.”
The third point of Pancasila says that Indonesian unity is that Indonesian nation is expected to be able to maintain unity, interest and safety of the nation and state as a common interest above the personal and group interests, to develop a sense of love to the homeland and nation and to develop a sense of the national pride and the land of Indonesia.

The topic of MY INDONESIA today is “Indonesia and Cambodia agree to promote bilateral cooperation.”
Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno L.P. Marsudi held a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Minister of Foreign and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn in Jakarta on Friday (2/2). At the meeting, Indonesia and Cambodia agreed to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, including trade and investment, tourism and regional cooperation. To strengthen the bilateral mechanism, Minister Retno Marsudi expressed Indonesia's commitment to hold the 4th Joint Commission Meeting of Indonesia-Cambodia as the main bilateral forum to encourage the improvement of bilateral relations, in particular the implementation of commitments and agreements between the two countries. In the economy, the two Ministers recorded a positive growth in the value of bilateral trade between the two countries, with trade values of 492.75 million dollars in the period from January to November 2017 compared to the previous year of $400.01 million dollars. Meanwhile, Indonesia's investment value in Cambodia reached approximately $350 million dollars in 2016, covering areas such as culinary, housing, transportation, and infrastructure. Minister Retno also said that there is considerable potential for Indonesia to establish cooperation in the field of health products.
As both countries have a number of world heritage sites, Indonesia and Cambodia are committed to enhancing tourism and culture cooperation, such as through sister temple cooperation between Angkor Wat and Borobudur Temple. Meanwhile, Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn said that he was present in Jakarta to reaffirm the common desire to further promote friendly relations and close cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Retno Marsudi said that during the meeting, Cambodia also expressed interest to improve cooperation and investment in pharmaceutical sector with Indonesia and invited Indonesian pharmaceutical companies to invest to Cambodia.
On regional issues, the two Ministers view the need for more concrete cooperation among ASEAN member countries. In terms of peace and security in the South China Sea region, the two Ministers view positively the adoption of the Code of Conduct -the COC for the South China Sea formulated in August 2017. The two Ministers also hoped that the COC negotiation is scheduled to be held in March 2018 went well. The two ministers also discussed the preparation agenda for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Cambodia which will be commemorated next year. This is the first visit for Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn to Indonesia since he was inaugurated in April 2016. In addition to holding bilateral meetings with Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Cambodian Foreign Minister also paid a courtesy call to Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
