VOInews, Sukoharjo: SMKN 5 Sukoharjo, Central Java, has made a new breakthrough in the world of vocational education by producing Smart TVs and laptops. The two electronic products are handmade by students of the Network Engineering Expertise Programme. With the brand name Gen-IT, the teaching factory (Tefa) of SMKN 5 Sukoharjo Network Engineering Expertise Programme has received various orders. Not only that, the products from Gen-IT have also received a brand certificate in 2022.

Quoting the Ministry of Education and Culture's Vocational page, Ari Kurniawati, Head of SMKN 5 Sukoharjo, said that the existence of Tefa is very helpful for student competence. "The existence of Tefa in SMK is able to provide real experience. With work processes in accordance with industry SOPs, students are able to practice and learn directly,’ wrote Kemdikbud.

This was felt by Faiz Gilang Pratama, a grade XI student of the Network Engineering Expertise Programme. Having an interest at the beginning of entering SMK, he honed his skills so that one day he could compete in the world of work. ‘Learning at SMK provides facilities for me to learn many things, especially in the field of network engineering,’ said Faiz.

Faiz joined the production unit and was instructed to assemble various products, such as all-in-one laptops and smart TVs. They started assembling from start to finish, even installing windows and software. According to Faiz, with project-based learning, he feels free in choosing how to learn. This is in line with the Merdeka Belajar movement launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). ‘The project of making Gen-IT products is my way of learning because I like practical learning style,’ explained Faiz.

In the past year, there have been 12 orders for Gen-IT products from the community and fellow school members. Waluyo, teacher of the Autotronics Expertise Programme, explained that the quality of these products is also not just any because the SMK production unit works closely with the industry. "The materials come from CV Estima as a supplier and PT Supertone Indonesia.
Later, when CV Estima gets an order, the students of SMKN 5 Sukoharjo will assemble it,’ said Waluyo.

According to Waluyo, this is a form of collaboration between vocational schools and industry. In addition, it can also have a big impact on students because the material can be directly implemented so that it opens up insights to have an independent business after graduation. SMKN 5 Sukahorjo also often participates in exhibition activities, one of which was Business Matching 2024 at Solo Technopark last May.

As quoted from written statement received on Thursday (6/6/2024), the achievement of an agreement on the IPEF agreement is one of the historic events that creates a new breakthrough in efforts to build clean and fair collective welfare through a cooperation agreement between countries in the Indo-Pacific region. "Pillar III of the Clean Economy is part of the IPEF agreement to realise a clean and environmentally responsible global economy. In this pillar, IPEF member countries are committed to increasing environmentally friendly economic activities through sharing information and experiences, exploring the potential of each country, and opening up broad investment opportunities for private parties in IPEF member countries that have a business orientation in line with the green economy,’ wrote the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.

It is known that some of the derivative initiatives from Pillar III are the Cooperative Work Programme (CWP) and the Clean Economy Investor Forum (CEIF), which also includes the IPEF Catalytic Capital Fund as a funding scheme for several high-quality climate infrastructure projects of up to USD 3.3 billion.

In order to support the effective implementation of commitments under the Pillar IV (Fair Economy) Agreement, IPEF partners welcomed the announcement of Capacity Building and Technical Assistance (TACB) programmes through the TACB Initiative Catalogue. ‘These programmes are designed to strengthen efforts to prevent and combat corruption, including money laundering and terrorism financing, as well as improve transparency and exchange of tax information,’ he continued.

The progress of the projects is there. The projects hopefully will create jobs in the regions,’ said Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto.

According to a written statement received by Voice of Indonesia on Thursday (6/6/2024), Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo viewed the IPEF meeting as a very important momentum in regional cooperation in the Indo Pacific region. ‘The meeting brought together senior Ministers from the 14 IPEF partner countries, which represent more than 40% of the world's GDP and 28% of global trade in goods and services,’ the Ministry wrote.

It is known that this meeting affirmed a joint commitment to strengthen and realise a clean, fair and holistic economy in the Indo-Pacific region, in line with the focus of cooperation stated in the 4 pillars of the IPEF agreement, namely the pillars of trade, supply chain, clean economy and fair economy.

Indonesia and other IPEF partners are committed to continue the steps towards ratification and implementation of the signed agreements. The IPEF partners will continue to monitor progress under the three pillars of IPEF and gauge concrete outcomes at the next ministerial meeting in September 2024 in Washington DC. In addition, the meeting launched the Clean Economy Investor Forum (CEIF) as a forum among IPEF member countries that will help mobilise funds for clean energy technologies in IPEF countries.

US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo gave special appreciation to Indonesia, for its active participation in IPEF. Secretary Raimondo gave a very positive response and fully supported Coordinating Minister Airlangga's request, which emphasised the importance of IPEF providing concrete results and tangible benefits for the community, particularly in job creation and improving people's welfare. ‘IPEF must bring job creation and opportunity for our people,’ said Secretary Raimondo, supporting Airlangga's statement.
