Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi is one of the participants of "Working Lunch on Rohingya Crisis" that was held by England and French during the 73rd UN General Assembly high level meeting in New York, USA on Monday (24/9/2018). According to the press release received by Voice of Indonesia on Tuesday (25/9), Retno Marsudi stated that Indonesia and International community will continue to observe the MOU between Bangladesh and Myanmar on Rohignya ethnic repatriation cooperation. This cooperation is hoped to fulfill Rohingya refugees rights in Bangladesh so they can return to Myanmar. Moreover , Marsudi said that there are several steps needed before the repatriation process is done such as creating conducive environment, security insurance and trust among Myanmar and Bangladesh.

“Well the concrete steps can be divided into several preparation steps. The preparation is if we talk about enabling environment so the environment has to be prepared until they return. Security assurance is very important. Building shelters is important too. And now enabling environment is taking place so the repatriation needs to be done immediately. Yesterday on the meeting, Bangladesh and Myanmar have stated trust is a very valuable asset to speed up the repatriation because if there's trust there is nothing can stop repatriation,” Retno Marsudi said.

Furthermore, Retno Marsudi said that the longer Rohingya ethnic stayed in refugees camp the situation will not get better. Because the camp condition is not well and make the refugees psychological conditions depressed. This of course can be a gap for the hard ideology or radical to enter and influence the refugees. Retno also reminded that repatriation process was followed up by inclusive life creation including supporting economy development for Rohingya.//Reza/trans: NK

Indonesia was successfully elected as the UN Security Council non permanent member for 2019-2020 period after gaining 144 votes at the UN Security Council General Assembly last June. Before officially sit as the nonpermanent member of the UN Security Council on January 1st, 2019, Indonesia has made special preparation that consist of training for representative or staff that will be place in the bilateral meetings with several countries, including other countries which were elected as the non permanent member of UN Security Council 2019-2020.  As October 1^st, Indonesia will sit as an observer at the council. It was stated by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi through a press release received by Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday Sept. 26th in Jakarta.

"We are in preparation to be the non permanent member of UN security council, but from October the first we will be an observer first. It means we don’t join the voting session. There are many things to do for the preparation including trainings, and we also meet some countries in the council or that will join the council such as South Africa, Belgium, Germany and Dominica. I and Germany minister have met to discuss the migrant issues but in a UN context we want to develop the partnership to multilateralism. So the process is still running," Retno Marsudi said.

Retno Marsudi and Foreign Minister of Germany, Heiko Mass had held a bilateral meeting during the Bali Democracy Forum chapter Berlin that was held on September 14th. During the meeting the two ministers agreed to bring peace and world security to be the main focus on the UN Security Council. Therefore, Indonesia and German have determined to strengthen global ecosystem for world peace and security. Both ministers also agreed to add the agreement between the UN Security Council members state and all countries in many levels, and have a regular consultation to handle several issues in the world//trans: NK

Director of Broadcasting of Indonesian Asian Para Games Committee (INAPGOC) Marco Yakub in a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (9/24) stated Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) and Metro TV are the official televisions from Indonesia to broadcast the 2018 Asian Para Games. TVRI is chosen to represent public television while Metro TV is a representative of private television. Marco also stressed that his party would limit access to cover the 2018 Asian Para Games for media of non broadcast rights holders. The step was taken based on the rules of the Asian Paralympic Committee. Marco also explained that his party would provide special zones for the media of non-right holders.

"Regulations from the APC, that the broadcast rights of course get all access from the broadcasting of Asian Para Games, while the non right holders will have regulations, for example, later there will be zones for the camera," said Marco Yakub.

The Asian Para Games will take place in Jakarta from 6 to 13 October 2018. There are 18 sports contested and seven of them, athletics, badminton, swimming, weight lifting, wheelchair basketball, table tennis, and track number cycling must be aired on television broadcasting the 2018 Asian Para Games. Until now, there have already been several foreign television stations confirmed to broadcast the 2018 Asian Para Games, including NHK (Japan), SSS (Thailand), National Geographic, Qazsport (Kazakhstan). Meanwhile, KBS (Korea) and CCTV (China) are still in the process of discussion. Eleven other sports branches, namely archery, boccia, chess, goalball, judo, lawn bowl, shooting, tenpin bowling, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair fencing are broadcast according to the policies of each television station. Chairman of the Indonesian-Palestinian Friendship Initiative Din Syamsudin at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (24/9) called for all Indonesian elements to give support to Palestine. The support is given especially to President Mahmoud Abbas who will deliver his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday (27/9). This support is very important considering that Palestine is currently under pressure and conspiracy from the United States under President Donald Trump's administration. President Donald Trump with some of his controversial policies is considered to hinder efforts of realization for Palestinian peace and independence.

"I invite all of us and all elements of the Indonesian nation to support President Mahmoud Abbas who will address in the upcoming UN general assembly on September 27. Hopefully President Mahmoud Abbas is always confident on his steps and continues to fight, so that Palestinian independence can be achieved. In our opinion, what has  happened in Palestine is a global injustice," Din Syamsudin said.

Din Syamsuddin moreover said that Indonesia will continue to urge the United Nations especially through the next General Assemby, so as peace process between Israel and Palestine including the issue of the transfer of Israeli capital from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, will run smoothly without interference from other countries. Din Syamsuddin said the interference of other sides will impede the peace process and will disturb the people’s life in the world. On the same occasion, the Director of Middle East Affairs, Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sunarko said that Indonesia would continue to fight for Palestine in foreign politic.
