Japan and ASEAN commemorate the 45th partnership and relationship this year. Japan is one of ASEAN partners in addition to China and South Korea. On the sidelines of the celebration of the 45th Japan-ASEAN friendship in Jakarta on Monday (24/9), the Japanese Ambassador to ASEAN, Kazuo Sunaga, said that ASEAN-Japan cooperation in the economic sector runs well. It can be seen from numbers of Japanese companies invested in the ASEAN region.
"As you see in Jakarta and the other ASEAN member states, there are many Japanese companies operating. They are very successful. So now I want to add a bit more, people to people exchanges. The number of Indonesians going to Japan is increasing. I want to encourage more people in ASEAN going to Japan as tourists, students and business as well. On the other hand I want to encourage the Japanese people to come to ASEAN more," Kazuo said.
Kazuo moreover said the organizing of the ASEAN Summit in Singapore in November will also be coupled with the peak celebration of the 45th ASEAN-Japan friendship and cooperation. According to Kazuo, the meeting was politically important, because it would be attended directly by the Japanese prime minister, Sinzho Abe and heads of ASEAN member countries. The 45th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan partnership was enlivened with an introduction and promotion of Japanese culinaries. The activity was also attended by ambassadors of ASEAN member countries. The Palestinian government in collaboration with the Indonesian Government plans to hold a solidarity event to garner support for efforts to fully realize Palestinian peace and independence. In addition the event was also held to strengthen the relationship of brotherhood and friendship between the two countries that have been established for decades. The solidarity program is scheduled be held in Jakarta in October 2018. Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al Shun at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (9/24) said Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki is scheduled to attend the solidarity event.
"As we would like to also say that we once again thank the Government of Indonesia for all forms of encouragement and assistance and also we would like to say that next month, the Government of Indonesia in collaboration with the Palestinian Government will hold a solidarity event or an event related to Palestine which will be attended by delegation from Palestine, the Palestinian Foreign Minister," said Zuhair Al Shun.
Furthermore Ambassador Zuhair Al Shun said that in November, Indonesia and Palestine will also sign an agreement on arts and culture cooperation. So far Indonesia and Palestine have established several bilateral cooperation. The collaboration aims to rebuild the Palestinian economy by means of trade. President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to address his speech at the UN general assembly in New York on September 27, 2018. Palestinian Embassy in Indonesia is gathering support from many elements of societies of Indonesia consisting of representatives of inter-religion, humanitarian Institutions as well as Indonesian Foreign Ministry. Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Zuhair Al Shun in Jakarta on Monday (24/9) said that international supports particularly Indonesia is an important base for Palestine as well as global stability.
"To express Indonesian principles towards problems of Palestinian who are experiencing the worst pressures and conspiracies, so your concern in facing Palestinian legitimacy especially under the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas is a source of pride for the Palestinians. We also invite you today, my brothers and sisters, to support the Palestinian speech at the UN to thwart the agreement. As we also invite Arabs, Muslims and Christians to support this speech. International support for Palestinian issues is very important. This is the right time to support Palestine," said Zuhair Al Shun.
